    Question Metal chips in oil

I just put a magnetic oil drain plug on my 6R over the winter and the pics below are what I found after 3.5 TDs. I've never seen this amount or size of shavings in any other bike which I've put a mag plug in. Everything sounds fine, runs fine. Did valve clearances and a comp/leakdown end of last season and #s were great. Motor has about 12k miles on it: all street with ~10 TDs. Some searching shows that this still could be on the bounds of normal (and most likely clutch/transmission wear?) and I'm thinking to just keep a close eye on it between future changes. But...what do you guys think?

Hey man. I think your fine. I've seen that amount on many different bikes with no issues. Is this the first mag plug you put on that bike? Could be what was in the bottom of the motor for some time. If the motor is fine mechanically, I'd not worry. Just my 2 cents.

That looks horrible. You will have lots of engine trouble and looks like you should get rid of that bike before something goes wrong. I will take one for the team and give you $1200. For the bike as is.

the flux capacitor requires 1.21 gigawatts of electrical power to operate
the 1.21 gigawatts are supplied by a plutonium-powered nuclear reactor and, with the absence of plutonium your 6r is dead.
you aint getting the power with those metal shavings.

Piston return sprig is wedding out. In all seriousness take a look at the chips after you dry all the oil residue off of them if there are no shiny parts to them and they are all discolored like they look in the pic, then they have probably been in there for a while. I'd just keep an eye out if this starts becoming a regular thing at every change with no signs of let up or they start increasing in size quantity, then I would worry about it, but for 15 k with no magnet before? Those could be left overs from the initial break in.
