My new ZX-10R specs that you torque the oil filter to 23 ft/lbs on installation. Well... I did that during the last oil change.
Today I changed the oil and filter(did some drilling and lockwiring while I was in there too). The sucker was stuck on there so good that the oil filter socket dented the flats on the filter(effectively stripping it) when I tried to take it off. I had to drill a hole through the oil filter and turn the filter with a metal rod stuck through it to get it to move.
I decided to go with about 1/2 the torque spec this time(12 ft/lbs) and I'll be watching it. I thought it was a bit overkill when I put it on the last time, so this was pretty much a confirmation... yah... it was overkill. Don't do that again, you bozo.
