Hey Guys,
I'm hoping to get some insight regarding my trackbike ('06 GSX-R 750), that I've been having some recurring clutch/starting trouble with. Early last year the bike was giving me some frequent problems:
- when trying to start, with the clutch all the way in, cranking the starter would make the bike lurch forward significantly (clearly the clutch wasn't disengaging and the starter was pushing it forward). To get it to start, I would let jam the bike forward several times (basically trying to push it forward while in gear) and then would try to start it as usual again. This seemed to free up the clutch and it would usually start.
At some point last season I had the clutch replaced with a factory clutch--the mechanic said that the old one was stuck together--I don't wholly understand the concept, but there was reference to having to whack it with a hammer to separate it.
The clutch seemed to work fine for the two track days that I did thereafter, but lo-and behold, the first time I hit the starter this year the thing starts trying to take off like it's in gear again (yes, the clutch was all the way in).
Anyone have any ideas/insights? It has two TTD's since the clutch was replaced, so the miles/hours are very low. Is this a problem anyone has ever heard of? Thanks in advance--I'm at a loss and would prefer not to replace the clutch again without finding what is causing the problem from happening in the first place.
