    Quad Sport carburetor issue.

I have a 2008 Suzuki LTZ 400 that has been garaged for several months. Everything works fine until I give it throttle and it stalls. I'm pretty sure it is a dirty or clogged carburetor. Central Mass Powersports charges $250 for cleaning but I want to exhaust my options before taking that direction. Suggestions welcome.

Pop the carb and clean it yourself? Price - Can of carb cleaner and time. Based on description, if you can start it and get it idling without choke you've got a plugged main jet. Pop the carb off, pop the bowl off, remove main and soak in carb cleaner until the passage is clear. Re-assemble and test.

A single carb is a piece of cake. No synching to do. Just disassemble, spray the shit out of everything, reassemble. Ride.

And also don't spray the carb cleaner on any rubber O-Ring or any rubber seals, as it will take all of the oil in that rubber & turn it to dust.

Seafoam is usually good to keep this from happening, but once clogged won't usually clear it (as it would have to get through the passage to the clog, which it can't).

You can try, but you'll probably end up pulling the carb (as others have said).

I did let it warmed up. The quad drives in Prim but in Run or Reserve, it stalls. I noticed when I press the throttle fast and hard, it throttles but if I ease into the throttle, it stalls. I think you guys are right, it has to be clogged somewhere. It doesn't look to hard disconnecting the carburetor but it sure is in a tight space.

Vacuum leak to the petcock. Hose or something else is letting air in.

once you get it runnin right, put a valve in the fuel, stop the engine by letting it run itself out of gas, drain the float bowl, don't leave any ethanol gas in the carb to gunk it up again
