    Chuck, please stop using the flag in this way. It is a desecration.

    If the flag is serviceable, please fold it up to use as a flag. If it is not serviceable, you can drop it off with any American Legion or VFW post. Most towns also have a flag officer (usually also the Veteran's Agent) who will take it from you and dispose of it properly.

    U.S. flags are not just thrown away. The blue field is cut away from the stripes, and then the two pieces are burned.

    Local Boy Scouts will take care of it for you too.
