Man this place gets rough off season! like they said, you're going to spend a lot more than you think just prepping for track days so skip the - 1/2 second lap speed parts. Lets spend some money -
*Get an Arai ($400+), Shoei, Suomy...just get a plain color to save $ just skip the cheap shit brands.
*How about full leathers ($500 any way)
*quality boots ($250-450) Sidi
*hard knuckle gauntlet gloves ($100+)
*$250ish per track day
*$ in your pocket to fix stuff you'll break/wear out. (1st day on my new track bike I crashed half way thru the day and it cost $1k+ to repair for next track day)
Once your speed goes up you'll want rearsets, suspension work and frame sliders - hell get the frame sliders and have the stock suspension checked/adjusted now.
Ok Doc, here's the deal I'm not one of these pretty boy on a bike guys who want all the cool toys but yet know nothing about the sport. The reason I ask all these questions is because I don't know anything about the sport! Simple as that and I'm sorry if this makes you angry and you think i'm a "squid" but I am just telling the truth. I have already taken the MSF course, already have a good helmet and protective clothing. (I am in the line of work where I see what type of shit happens when people don't wear what they're supposed to while riding or want to play around on the machine i.e. half a face, or limbs scattered all over the road). So don't get the wrong impression of me when I ask these questions. What it comes down to is that i'm one of those guys who spends their money "stupidly" on toys and things for my toys, not just on the motorcycle.
As far as me embrasing the squid title, I could care less what i'm called...call me anything you want, I just don't care what people say about me that's all.
So I hope this helps everyone get a clearer image about me when I post something or might want a serious answer about a question (which I receive 99.9% of the time)![]()
If you ain't first you're last!!
The more you read this forum, the more you will realize it is loaded with safety nazis. When a noob starts posting here you will see a lot of "OMG SAFETY" replies to questions where safety wasn't even what was being asked about.
Next time when someone starts spouting off on things you didn't ask about, just say "Dude, I understand that helmets, leather, and boots give you wood but would you mind answering the question I asked?"
"...i would seriously bite somebody right in the balls..." -bump909
Here we go again with the safety Nazi crap....
Wortown03, I already had an idea you spent your money " "stupidly" on toys and things for my toys, not just on the motorcycle."
This is why I posted "Dude?! These are things you DON'T NEED! (Especially for someone that doesn't have alot of money)"
I am not angry or mad at you, (notice thesmilie) and I don't feel I am a "safety nazi".
I am just trying to give you the good advice I never got when I started. Like me you most likely won't listent to most of it and will need to learn it for yourself.
I am glad that in your "line of work" you see the consequences. Don't ever get numb to it or think it can't happen to you.

it's your money do whatever you want with it. i don't like the shifters.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
I enjoyed my shifter on my racebike and felt it was good for 1/4 to 1/2 of a second per lap, if all else went smooth.
When racing for a championship, that felt like money well spent.
For anything else... I can't see the pros outweighing the cons (money and possibility for failure)
If your drag racing its worth it.
Seriously wait till next year and take a ride with the group. Then you will know what you don't know. You will come away saying how the F*K did they do that.
Oh and don't wheelie at street fairs they hate that
Glen Beck is John the Baptist
I drag race from the start to turn one
Then fron 2 to 3
Then from 3 to six
Then from 6 to 11a
Then from 11a to 1.
DO I NEED A QUICK SHIFTA?
