So I've got some race gas and 2 stroke oil.
Sunoco 110 leaded and Castrol A747.
My concern is this: if I mix the oil and gas now, will the oil break down by the aug 29th track day? If I have to, I'll mix the oil and gas right before I use it. I havent heard back from Castrol about it, and I just dont wanna risk the oil losing its lubricating qualities and damage the engine.

Mixing it a week or so in advance should be fine - make sure to shake the can up to re-mix it before pouring it into the tank. The amount of breakdown in one week is minimal. If this is the first time running the leaded 110 gas through this engine make sure to read the plug after few laps. Depending on the weather you might need to re-jet and play around with the plug temp range. Good luck...

you might think im stupid...but why mix the oil when using race fuel???![]()

Because its a 2-stroke, theres no actual oil in the crank case. The oil in the fuel is what lubricates the whole shibang.Originally posted by fasterthanu

I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
Actually, in many two-strokes there is tranny fluid. The oil in the gas mixture lubricates the crank, piston, and etc. But the tranny fluid takes care of the rest. In my YZ250 it was 80w90 gear oil, and it was 10w40 in my RMX250.

They should call Production Twins what it really is, Shitty McBikefest. Rules for Participation: If your bike runs lower laptimes than a lawnmower, you are not eligibile for Shitty McBikefest. -Darrell
