O-rings for CRG Hindsight LS mirrors

I have noticed that the O-rings in the joints of my CRG Hindsight LS mirrors are all broken up and falling apart. I figure if I take them apart to look at things and try to source the right size replacement O-rings, that will be the end of their functionality for who knows how long.

I sent CRG an email and they will gladly sell me replacement ones at $1 for a set of 4 (enough for both mirrors)... plus $5.50 to ship them out. This violates my basic sensibilities over what is a reasonable price for a little rubber ring, even if I order myself a spare set for the future.

    So here is my question:
    a) Does anyone have a sense of what the proper size O-ring is to try and source at my local hardware store?
    or
    b) Does anyone else need a replacement set for their own mirrors? A few more sets gets me past the point of feeling dumb for paying more for the shipping than the product.

How can it cost that much to ship out o-rings for the CRG Mirrors?! Put them in an envelope with a stamp! Geeze!

    I'd say buy them.
$1 for the o-rings plus $5.50 for someone to take time out of their day to package them (material$), etc.
Doesn't strike me as unreasonable. Order two o-rings from McMaster Carr and you'll likely be out more than $6.50.

I,M kind of blown away by the recent devaluation of the human labor factor.
It seems that everyone expects people to work for free lately.

Note: My issue isn't with paying them a few bucks for the time to put something in an envelope and send it to me. I just figure I ought to order more things in that same envelope to make it worth the time + postage.

I work in an industry, where our employees are doing extremely difficult jobs working with extremely difficult people, for low wages. It's a job you need to love to do. So I understand the value of human labor.

I was only surprised at the fact that shipping and handling costs $5.50. It can't take anymore than $1 for the envelope and stamp -- really the o-rings on the joints of the CRG's are small... Maybe it's all that overhead...

I just paid 9 bucks to ship 2 sets of brake pads. Mainly cause no one locally carries the damn things. I dont even need them, but to make it worth the while I had to order 2.
