    FRAM oil filter

I've used Fram oil filters in ALL my streetbikes. A lot of folks say they're no good. But I had over 40,000 miles on one bike I used 'em on, 37,000 miles on another, and over 25,000 on another. And I've used 'em for the coupla changes I've done on the Tiller. No problems here...

    FRAM oil filter

Yeah. I've seen & heard it all. All the 'tests' I've ever seen were conducted back in the early 90's though. I've yet to see anything recent on 'em. And a lot can happen in 10 years...

the ReaL sCOop on fRaM fiLteRs

Heres the REAL scoop on Fram filters, I will try to fine the documents and post them,

Authentic Fram filters are ok, problem is there are some asian ripoffs that make there internals out of recycled cornflakes boxs, yes, I have seen a cut open fram filter, take the filter apart, and you can see that the cardbord end cap that (many good filters use a plasticized cardbord end but mostly metal) has the kellog's rooster imprinted on one side

beware, the asian companies are making ripoffs of other brands too, normally the ripoffs end up on the shelves of discount department stores, less often in discount automotive stores like VIP or PEPboys etc. sometimes in affiliates hardware stores, ACE, TRuValue, etc. the safest place to buy a filter, an automotive jobber, NAPA, Robbins, SAS etc.

I would say if you get a filter at a bike shop, you'd be ok, I'm not sure about internet purchases.

I really don't even know if there is still the ripoff problems, the piece I read about this was prolly 15 years ago, they may be suffering from a bad rap today.

    MY 2¢

Like I said, I'll try to find the documentation on that, but it is old news, may be forgotten

    FRAM oil filter

point i was trying to make was that how much different is a motorcyle oil filter than a car oil filter that it would cost twice as much? FRAM filter for car cost less than $5 at LAPEN for example. I don't see why it would be that much difference in price. Must be a ripoff dealer.

That's what I'm saying. I've seen the doc's on the 'experiments' before. But everything I've seen was conducted in the early 90's. And as you can see by wunna my above posts, I have damn near 100,000 miles all on FRAM filters...

    FRAM oil filter

Mark - I meant to ask if that list is in any particular order. Also, does anyone have anything from say, Consumer Reports that may have done a comparo RECENTLY? I'm not discounting what Mark said or anything, I'm just really curious as to if anything has been researched (and backed up) recently...

...Or why a spark plug for an RC51 looks the same as any other but costs $46 each?

Kham, don't buy your stuff at Greater Boston Motorsports, they WILL rip you off.n
