    Steering Stem Socket - 02 VFR800

    Hello all,

Was wondering if anyone had a steering stem socket that would fit an 02' VFR800 I could borrow or buy if you're done with it... this would be the socket that fits the notched nut...

I know a lot of people use the old hammer and punch/screwdriver routine but I'd like to know I torqued it right when I'm done...

And if no to the first question... how about a good resource to buy one? Is it dealer only?

    Thanks in advance!

    Mike

You could make it using a dremel, cutoff wheel and cheapo deep socket. I've made a few this way, pretty easy. If you have access to a mill you can make them purdy, but a dremel works fine.

Huh... not sure why I hadn't thought of that... no mill but I do have a dremel... maybe worth a shot.

    Thanks!

If you kept the front wheel down you wouldn't burn thru neck bearings in less than 8000 miles you damn hooligan.

Let me know if you need a hand (MAYBE I'll help ya), I had to make a notched style socket before. In the Haynes manual for my bike it gave me the exact measurements for the notches to cut into the socket, I bet you can find the same info for yours.
