    Stupid Newb question

My SV is being very weird and I want to know what's wrong, maybe some of you have had this happen? Every now and then, after I start going from off (with time to warm up and all), the bike will stall itself while moving, usually in second gear or shifting to 3rd. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with rpms, either, as it does it sometimes when coming to a stop (combination of engine braking and brakes), with no ryhme or reason. It is getting very frustrating and was wondering if you guys/girls ahd any insight. It is fuel injected (if that makes a difference), and I am thinking maybe it is something simple like a clutch cable or an otherwise bad connection with the clutch? Or maybe something completely unrelated?

    Stupid Newb question

Some bikes have a switch that only allows starting the bike with the clutch pulled in/ If you have that feature, it's possibly shorting out. Or it could be the kickstand switch. similar deal. Take it to the dealer if it's a new bike. Used, take to a mechanic....

Another possibility: check to make sure your kickstand is moving freely. It's possible that it's got enough crap in the pivot point to allow it to move down enough to open the kickstand switch, killing the ignition, then popping back up to allow the bike to be started again. Also, check the spring for the sidestand. It may be too slacked out to keep the sidestand where it belongs. Unlikely, but, worth checking.

And one more - check the idle speed.. I have no idea if the SV is prone to it as mine never did it but if I set the idle speed low on my VFR it will stall in between shifts occasionally. It was actually delivered that way.

My TL-R did that same shit, albeit extrememly rare. In fact, my TRUCk did it too. Both needed an RPM adjustment at idle...

Swing up this weekend. I'll take a lookie at it...

I don't think low oil would be causing your bike to stall.

Maybe you should sell it and buy a Honda.

Low on oil will have no effect on it stalling. I would go along the lines of low idle.

one oil change later and it is sounding more and more like low idle....guess that's the next thing.
