Never laid hands on an SV until I picked up this wreck a few months back:
I'm replacing the frame, front end, exhaust, rad, and some other bits. So basically full disassembly and then rebuild around the new frame.
Any tips/tricks on supporting the frame while removing and then installing the engine? I was thinking something along the lines of removing the donor rear, installing on the new frame along with the new front end, then I can support with stands to do the engine swap. But then I can't keep the rear up on the donor. Jacks under the frame sliders might work for both frames, but pretty sure the bolts pass through the frame & engine.
Other thought is supporting everything on the engine with a hydraulic car jack - dicey but possible.
I don't have overhead beams that I would trust with the weight, and not too keen on the ladder trick.
Obviously I haven't thought this through which is why I'm asking - anyone gone through this with any wisdom to share?
Pretty sure I have the special tools needed. Trying to be prepared for this project instead of placing 73 small orders over 10 months.
Should be an afternoon job right?
