switching from vacuum to manual petcock

    any issues doing this?

can I just swap them and plug up the vacuum hose from the carb?

1999 dr200se, 700 miles, runs great, oem petcock expensive known to start leaking...dr200 thread @ advrider member said to replace it with a manual petcock from a yamaha, which is cheaper, plus I like being able to turn off the gas @ the tank for removal and carb cleaning

No issues at all. Just plug the vacuum fitting and be done with it.

Do it. Cap the line(s) on the carb and be done with it.

The only "issues" that could arise is if the vacuum system is masking the fact that your needle valve is junk by not letting excess fuel by when the motor isn't spinning. That will be quite obvious 10-15sec after you open the regular valve for the first time.

Did it on my DR350...no problems. The vacuum petcock hadn't failed yet but it is good peace of mind. If the 200 is the same as the 350 you can use either a yamaha raptor petcock or 2003 WR450. The raptor part is similar to stock in length and the WR part is very low profile to the tank. I went with the WR part since I have a over-size tank and the clearance to the cylinder head is pretty tight. As others said just remember to cap the unused carb vacuum port. It works great.

    very nice, thanks

it's done...bike runs great...seems to need a few cranks to start cold though, but I'm guessing that's unrelated to the petcock
