    Throttle return...

I know, I am a PIA today...but can someone give me a word of advise?

I removed my grip and controlls because the throttle does not snap back, it rolls slowly back to position and found that the throttle snaps back nicely when not on the clip-on but not so good when I put it on, indicating to me that there is residue on the clip-on or in the throttle that is hindering a smooth roll. I tried a light sandpaper on the clip-on to clean it and it seems a bit better but not great.

Anything else I should try or just sand it again and maybe clean the inside of the throttle?

TRy lube. Also, look for spots where the cables might be getting interferred with.

grip glue may have leaked in there....try rubbing alcohol and/or some goof-off stuff type stuff. Try to eliminate possibilities...like disconnecting the cable from teh tube and see if it is free-flowing...if it is it maybe the cable...try lubing the cable(should do this anyways)

    Throttle return...

I fought with this issue on my track bike all last season.... my clip on was slightly bent enough to not allow it to come back... however if yours worked before it's probably not bent? Did you try adjusting the return cable?

It is definately not the cable. It is friction. I will try cleaning it with alcohol.

    Throttle return...

it's probably just the routing of the cable with too tight of a bend--try adjusting the position of the clip on or the throttle itself.

+ definately lube the bar--all the way up + all the way down, with both hands, gently twisting in opposite directions, not too fast, not too tight of a grip, ya that's it, now work it--some more lube, now you got it, a little faster, yaaa

    Throttle return...

Has the thottle return always been slow since you've had the bike or is it something new?

I know you said you removed everything, but when you reassembled the thottle and clip on... is the grip rubbin against the bar end?

When I've had a slow return throttle it's been either:

    cables - routing/binding

grip - rubbing against bar end

    clip on - slightly bent

Jane, my R1 did the *exact* same thing when I changed the bar ends, and it was indeed the throttle cable. It was extremely finicky, and only snapped back if it was perfectly positioned, and the bar end was not too tight.

Jane, I had a similar problem trying to resolve a roomates bike having same issue, turns out the grip was just rubbing the bar end (shrug)

I struggled with this same exact problem for an aggravating couple of hours with no improvement. Put on a new set of cables and it was fine. All parts worked "fine" alone but when put together, there was enough friction in total to cause a slow return. I'd order new cables.

Brent probably knocked it over in his garage and didn't tell you and now the clip on is bent.
