Any other tool for Phillips head screws?

I can't find my Phillips head screwdriver and I was wondering if there is any other way to take these screws out. I was thinking of using my cutting torch but figured that would wreck the fairing.

Don't forget to turn it clockwise until you hear something crack, and then back off an 1/8 of a turn.

Use vise grips to grip the lip of the screw and back it out that way.

Cut the biznatch out. Don't worry about the fairing. It'll give it that "weathered" look.

That's what we did. I welded a torx head socket to my anvil and then we flipped the bike over, gently jammed it down onto the torx drive, spun the bike around a few times and the screw came right out.

Watch out for japanese phillips screws.

"Japanese Phillips (called "plus driver" in Japan) and American/European Phillips screw heads and screwdriver tips have different engineering specifications that makes the interchange of the two problematic. A letter to the editor in the Winter 2006 issue of Robot magazine points out that many Asian manufacturers have adopted the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) for Phillips heads and tips, which has a different shape than the original Phillips design. The JIS standard is designed to not cam-out, while the original Phillips standard has a cruciform-recessed shape that is designed to cam-out."
