    Trouble starting bike when warm..

Took the bike out for a nice long ride after work today, everything's running great...except, the last few days I've noticed, if I stop for gas or something after the bike has warmed up, it doesn't want to start again. If I twist the throttle the bike starts and surges up to 7-8k, hangs there for a second after I roll off the throttle. After that, everything's normal. The bike starts fine cold. Any ideas what could cause this?

Not enuff info- Model make and year..what I'm really after..is it carbureted or FI?

if it's FI check your coolant temp sensor...could be outta tolerance.

Sounds like the fuel levels maybe a little high in the fuel bowls.
The fuel could be expanding and spilling down into the engine.
Causing it to flood. By opening the throttle clears the excess fuel in the cylinders..this is why it's holding the revs up high and then dropping.

Does it idle OK after you go thru this starting proceedure?
Let me think about other things that can cause this...Check to make sure the carbs are mounted tightly into the manifolds, and the camps are tight too.

The tendancy to rev high for a bit after starting, IIRC, can be caused by a vacuum leak. Does it start easier when you use a little choke (when warm)?

I could be quite wrong, my memory sucks...
