    Using a front stand

Finally got the nerve to lift the front of my CBR off the ground with no one else around to help. Dry run before putting on new tires for the 10/17 track day. Put the bike on the rear stand. Put the bike up on the front stand and realized axle probably won't slide past the side of the stand. Took it off the front stand, wrapped a rag around the lower peg of the front stand, and lifted it again. Now have a couple mm clearance to slide the axle by the side plate. Anyone have a better way to do this? I tried lifting the front wheel a couple times to get more clearance, but no luck without putting the rag to get more clearance. Thanks.

Grab a dremel or die grinder and clearance the brackets on the stand.

Buy a real front stand. Hate to put it like that but you need a better front stand. You get what you pay for with stands.

+1 get a front stand that is a pin style that holds it from under the triple trees.

Get creative , get some hardened bolts, grind them to a soft point , and weld them on.

No offense taken, Harbor Freight cheapie, just hoping to lift bike long enough to go get tires mounted.

It might, wasn't sure if they "balance" better in the current position.

Might be able to grind enough of the plate off.

And then come up throught the hole under each fork leg?

    Will keep that in mind.

Dealer is trucking the bikes to the track day this weekend, when I drop it off to them I'll probably have them do the whole tire swap, but wouldn't mind doing some of the job myself to save some money. Thanks all.

Forget the bolt and weld idea.
I think your best bet is to do the die grinder/dremmel tool to remove enough material to slide out the axel shaft.
