    Wicked nice ratchet straps

Have two ratchet straps bought at a hardware store about 10 years ago. Soft loops, padded handle, heavy duty 1” strap 7-8’ Long . Haven’t been able to find them since and have been using cheap 1” straps.

Started looking around and found these. 1-1/2” nice thick straps, soft loops with carabiners (also available with hocks), 6-1/2’ Long so not a bunch of extra to flap around. $30 Amazon Prime.

Amazon.com: 1-1/2" x 6-1/2ft PowerTye Made in ‘Murica fuck yeah Heavy-Duty Ratchet Tie-Downs with Carabiner Hooks

I loathe ratchet straps. Maybe it's because I'm a dumb-ass, but I loathe them. I went with a set of Moose Racing tie-down straps and I'll never go back. Not a ratchet in sight!

100% agree. I got a set of the Protaper straps with carabiner and loop ends. $30. Threw the fucking ratchet straps out.

    Re: Wicked nice ratchet straps

I recently bought a set of 1" straps from Macs custom tie downs. Night and day compared to the typical cheapies. No fighting to release and smooth as butter and they last MUCH longer, the weight of the hook alone is enough to get it to unwind. Do you loathe ratchet straps? or the crappy $7.99 for 4 ones? The cheap ones have their place, but for me, not for an actual load bearing application (no SWL tag) and are almost consumables not to mention the ratchet mechanism is horrible. And at the end of the day, a good 1" strap is in the $20-30 range typically and they hold some expensive toys at times.

They are kind of like screwdrivers. yes you can buy a generic #2 phillips for almost nothing, but compared to a quality screwdriver, they are not even close in how much better they work. A well made one engages well where a cheap one is a head stripper\curse generator as they just cam out unless you apply 20lb of force. For arguably the most commonly used tool around a house, Why save $20? Not to mention a lifetime warranty on the shank typically, just don't loan it out.

I have that pair. They are friggin amazing! If you loathe ratchet straps it's because you haven't used these before!

Actually mine are a little different. The hooks are an open style and are rubber coated.

I can't use those on the holes in the side of the truck bed.

S hooks don’t fall out if tensioned properly.
