ZX6 / KAWI OWNERS need help front sprocket removal

I am wrenching on an 04 zx6 and am having trouble removing the front sprocket.

it looks like a splined nut that has a hex too. Do I need a specialty tool or is it reverse threads?

Bike on stand now so would appreciate any help.

Nut should be regular thread. The lock washer and sprocket are splined.

How are you preventing sprocket from turning? Bar thru the rear wheel? Or did you already cut the chain?

    [edit - more info]
Here's a schematic. Make sure that lock washer (p/n 92200) is flattened. The nut will take a big breaker bar or impact to remove. Penetrating oil wouldn't hurt (PB Blaster).

You try blow torching it? Heat cycle it several times with a blowtorch. Make sure you aren't cooking any rubber or thin warp-prone metal seal behind it.

Do you have a cheater bar? If not, you might be able to make one from a jack's handle.

Hi zx6r owner here and can confirm all advice above lol

    Flatten Washer
    Put in gear
    Put board in wheel
    Unbolt Nut

I never have an issue granted I use an impact gun

Yeah, rode it to a local garage and they busted it loose with shop air. Not easily though. Not a big fan of that design.

Now the new sprocket is too thick it seems. The lock nut only can thread a few threads. Could this be right? There are bolt holes on the new one, is that the stock way? Small bolts?

New sprocket should be similar width as the old one. You still have the old one to compare?

[edit] Looked a the motor - you should see ~8 threads exposed on the inside of the nut. The output shaft should thread up a hair past the large and small hex portions and stop at the squared portion of the nut.

Yes for sure its the wrong sprocket. Cant put the old one on since the chain is only long enough for a certain size.

Wound up riding out to long island and got one BJ had laying around that fit.

I ordered for an 04 but the bikes an 07.

Anyway, job done. I hate when a job stalls like that the day before I leave for the track.
