    205's last Novice race.

Sunday morning was very cold. I started the day with a borrowed bike that I've only ridden for 4 untimed trackday sessions, and with some barely working tirewarmers. First practice went well. I got a lot of practice making passes which is something that I have known that I needed to work on. Traction was an issue, and I also felt the front wanting to tuck a lot. I really felt like I was holding back, but was going pretty well none the less. I managed to be fastest in my group and my first recorded laps were 3/4 a second off my personal best.

Second session went a bit better. Again, I felt the tucking feeling, and saved it on my knee in 6. I was making a lot of passes in this session, and completed some passes in areas and lines that I've never tried before. I had the 3rd fastest practice times in my group, and was now equal to my personal best on a borrowed bike that I had very little time on.

GTL - I was hoping that the track temp would rise, but overcast conditions kept the surface cool. I had only done 2 practice starts on this bike, so the one thing that I was really good at, I had to relearn to make work on this bike. I triple wheelied the start, and went into the first corner in third. Hanging onto Lori Shaw and William Morley for the first 2 laps, I was feeling hopeful, but then I started making some mistakes. I downshifted too many gears, and both Adam Jakubowski and Jeff Vader took advantage of that. Feeling the bike sliding around a bit and finding myself feeling stiff, I wasn't able to keep the pace. The Mike/Stu incident caused a red flag.

I was hopeing that I could get back in the game on the restart, but while the start was better, my riding wasn't all that great. I finished 5th at about 30 seconds behind the lead pack which seemed pretty much neck and neck. That looked like it would have been a really fun battle to be in. Lori Shaw took the win with Bill Morley finishing second. Final point stanting in the GTL purse fund:

    Lori Shaw 171
    Erik Boos 135
    Bill Morley 119

Thank you Rich for letting me borrow your bike. To match my best right away on it is a great indicator of how things will go next year. Thank you Derek, Scottie, Quintin and again Rich at Landrics Boston Moto for your continued support and it is a great pleasure to be a part of your organization. And thank you Lori and Bill. I'll see you both with yellow plates next year.

Sorry. Thank you Jim for giving everyone somebody to make fun of, and taking the focus off of my own short comings.

Seriously, thank you for hooking me up from time to time, and just being a good guy in general.

Was this on my (Scottie/Tony) old Duc?

Honestly, I think my head was all screwed up. I got cocky after practice, but then when I started making mistakes during the race, I was all messed up.

    Yes, it was that bike.

It was great racing with you this season Eric. Wait, let me rephrase that: it was great griding with you and watching you disappear in front of me at the drop of the green!
