LRRS Round 6 #345 Race report:

Well this weekend didnt quite start out as expected. First practice on saturday morning revealed some loud noises coming from the area of the top end of my engine. After spending the morning trying to diagnose the cause, with the help and expertise of Mike Weyant, with no real results and seeing no real damage I made the decision to run the bike in LWGP. Crossed the line at the end of the first lap in 3rd and then lost power from the bike and the back tire seemed to lock up going into T1 so I took the nascar T1/2 and parked it to watch the rest of the race with the T2 cornerworkers. Fortunately my teammate Dan wasnt racing this weekend and he was willing to bring his bike up for me to race on sunday to just try and salvage points to maintain my leads in LWSB and LWSS. Got number plates put on and changed the shift pattern from GP and got to be early.

Sunday morning saw my first time ever on this bike and it was wet to boot! Rain tires for practice and went out to get a feel for the bike. came in early to make some changes. removed lever guards, rotated the throttle assy forward and moved the bars out and forward more. That'll have to do till I could feel it out again in LWSB.

LWSB: First race after lunch. Everyone had been doing the tire dance and with about 15 mins till the race i decided on full wets. Smart choice as the track was still wet in spots but drying. Gridded in 1A and got the holeshot off the line and held the lead until I hit the bump coming down into T10. The suspension unloaded and had to run it wide to hold on and Isaac came up past me but got back around him into T1 at the start of the next lap and held the lead to the finish.

First place Best lap 1:25.7 Clinched Amateur LWSB Championship!!

LWSS: Gridded on pole again but wheelied the bike when the lights went out. Not good. Matt Blake in 1B also wheelied his bike but was quicker to recover from it than I was and he was off. Spent the race going back and forth with Doug Cooke, Isaac Maycotte and Tim DiLorenzo in what was an epic, fun, close battle for 2nd and third as Matt was off on his own. Made it into second but hit the shifter down while moving my foot to get under it when coming onto the front straight which gave Doug 2nd back.

Third Place Best lap 1:22.1 Clinched Amateur LWSS Championship!!

Thunderbike: Gridded in second for the start I knew this was going to be another really good close race. Battled with Rich O'Connor for a bit for the lead then Doug got by me somewhere, gotta watch the video, I managed to hang on to Doug for a third place finish while holding off increasing pressure from behind from Isaac and Tim DiLorenzo.

Third Place Best lap 1:21.7 27 points out of first in third over all behind Doug Cooke and Rich O'Connor respectively. Could possibly still pull off that championship if the stars align.

Overall this ended up being a great weekend after the rough start it had. Thanks to everyone for their help and support!! Huge thanks to Dan Pletea for bringing his bike up for me. Mike Weyant for helping to diagnose my bike. To everyone on the grids with me for great, fun, close, safe racing! congratulations Brian! your season has been a tough one with ups and downs... you stuck it out and with 1 round left you have the points lead in 2 not a bad year.

    Congrats Brian!!!
Your best time on my bike (after riding it only for less than 20 laps) was almost 3 secs faster than mine.... That is impressive and just shows how much talent you have !!!

Congrats! I watched LWSB from T1a, that was an awesome race. I seem to remember you having a huge moment coming out of 2 on either the first or second lap. Isaac also had a pretty big moment in 1a near the end of the race right on your rear wheel. Crazy stuff.

I really get a kick out of how often I feature in people's race reports, heh heh. I was waiting for you to reel me in all weekend whenever I goofed. Incredible job overcoming your motor trouble. I'm sure Dan appreciates you training his bike to hustle! I'm gonna make you work for it next round too, son.

I wanted to reel you in Doug but the risk of crashing out on Dan's bike and screwing myself out of points wasn't worth what I would've needed to do to pull it off and I was content with the podiums and my performance nonetheless. I wouldn't expect any less from you bud. You have been a great competitor, among many, all season! Bring it on lol
