I'm still not a racer, but my technical analysis indicates that you may need a new peg on the right side rearset.

Also, fortunately you have plenty of time to heal up before the next weekend??? Sorry to hear about the crash, but 3 seconds off the outlap is incredible.

It has been fun "observing" your first full season. Keep us up to date on your decision in about steeds for next season.

Thanks, I really enjoyed my first season too. Met some pretty awesome folks this year and learned a lot about myself along the way. Looking forward to next season already.

How could I have not heard of this??? Geez Diz, got the checkers and/or wreckers mindset already. I wish you a speedy recovery, and look forward to hearing of more (less dramatic) exploits!

I can't help but turn it into a cute narrative like that. Truth be told, I was lucky. I was pushing really hard in my last lap and wasn't feeling like I planted the front end well in turn 3. In my previous laps, I could feel the gradual release of the suspension. I think I actually felt for the first time the bike speaking to me on the drive out. It was extremely exhilarating, and I think I demonstrated really bad judgment at least several times because of it...
    1. I started to race the rider I was passing instead of riding my line.
    2. I didn't brake until the 4th cone which is later than I've practiced.
    3. I need more experience with alternate lines before it is safe for me to execute that with others racers on or near the line.
    4. I should have left for the hospital sooner, I knew the issue was in need of further investigation about 20 minutes after I returned to the paddock. That was an immature reaction to not wanting the weekend to end so quickly. Well yeah, I fucking love this sport.
    5. And this may be the most serious one. I have no idea how to fall correctly, that's why I got hurt. I rolled after I left the bike. I had plenty of reaction time and I even surveyed my body position and how much input I had on the bars. I scanned my periphery to see it there was another bike in my path but I didn't have a clue how to position my body for the fall.

Sorry to hear about the incident. What did you injure, your left leg/knee? How did the bike make out?

    Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Thanks. My left kneecap is broken but there's no soft tissue damage. I swear the bruised rib hurts more than anything. The bike is still packed but it really didn't suffer very much at all. I know that post sounds like I'm being pretty self critical but it's just the way I roll. Racing is dangerous and want my risks to be as constrained as possible.

There is a way to learn that. Sadly it usually involves falling down. It's actually a speciality of mine.
