Man, my weekend started out sucky then got more fun thankfully.

Saturday: Spent all morning putting on/taking off rain tires and missed both practices. Went out for super singles and felt like CRAP but somehow did a new personal best of 1.25.1 and got 4th I think.

Sunday: Motard race had some awesome racing but one of my most frustrating races as I got passed on the front straight a ton. I was fighting for 2nd/3rd most of the race and ended up finishing 5th (pissed) but new personal best of 1.24.4 again. Passed Jackie in turn 11 2 or 3 laps in a row but she blew by me on the straight every lap aha
LW Sportsman, another fun race but chasing that bastard richie...finished .4 between us and got 2nd and another personal best of 1.24.2

Happy I dropped 1.5 seconds or so since last race weekend but need to learn to pass and not get wasted on the straight away by people skinnier than me

Nice dude... I noticed in that other thread we are running different gearing maybe you should go down a tooth in the rear like mine? People shouldn't have too much on you on the straight unless they have a lot more motor...

really? Weird... I am topping out with 15f 39r around the 3 or 4 board i think.

maybe your cornerspeed in / drive out of 12 is poor?

Jackie has motor. She was pulling me on the straight, and as well all know, that doesnt happen easily. Then again, she weighs less than me unlike everyone else, so maybe thats it.

Good work Seth. Sounds like you're finding your fast out there. I could have sworn you were in my NV LWSM race when someone (I won't mention names, he was cool and it wasn't intentional) on a dirt bike decided that a straight line through the dirt was a better line than the paved chicane going onto the oval and passed me off-track, in the dirt, on the right. I thought "why's seth in my novice race?". Then I got past the incident we were yellow flagged for and passed the bastid back for the checkers without any physical contact, so I knew it couldn't have been you

Oh, and thanks a ton for the vitamin waters buddy. Absolute lifesaver, I was DYING at trophies, checkered was closed, all my drinks were 100 degrees and the machine was empty. You rock

Ya I dunno, my drive out def. isn't the best but even when I pulled better drive than jackie out of 12 and 2 she walked on me down the straights to 1 and 3. Like richie said that is probably just her light weight....I need to corner faster

There were a couple FAST machines down the front straight this weekend. I had one expert motor by me on the front, I'm topped out by start finish and he's motoring on, grabbing an UPSHIFT by the 4 or 5 board?!

Seth you did look good out there. Your battle with Expert 5 through 11-12 was awesome.

Make your pass by turn 9 if the other bike has motor on you. Better still pass in 6, gap em in 9, and beat em into T1. Next!

you're right! I am almost rear ending everyone out of 6 to 9 but I am a pussy/not fully sure how to pass good there yet. I went inside a few bikes to 9 that went wide but they swung left right into the curb and I would have had my front wheel taken out if I stayed on it. Gotta work on that

    <threadjack>

How does one pass in 9? I lost a TON of ground on position #2 on the last lap because he got an SV we were lapping at the treehouse and I had to follow the sv through 9 at his slower pace, then slow up even more to launch through 10 and take him out of 10.

You all had a great freight train railing around the track. It was great to see. Got to break the nice guy mentality and jump on a bobble the instant it happens. Not the ok roll off now, whack the throttle and duck under/go around.

    Re: #399

I don't know what CEO pm'ed you, but I'll add my thoughts. I prefer to set up my passes on the INSIDE of 8 and OUTSIDE of 9 for safety reasons.

At mild speeds, the outside of 8 might works, but as things heat up, that gets really dodgey. There's a very fast, incredibly tight line through 8 that has you nearly leaving the pavement on the right. Not many people use it, so I shoot for it every time I need to pass. If someone closes that door, I can usually just back down a sec, and then get on the gas heading down into 9 and pass them at the tip in point.

With this strategy, I'm accelerating while they are decelerating and the pass happens quickly and safely. Plus, I'm the one who gets to close the door in 9, not the other guy. Occasionally, I won't beat them to the first curbing in 9, but I'm on the outside, and can close the door into 10. It's win/win/win. You have to be committed to it so as not to get shut out in 10.

That sounds good Paul, I feel like I get pinched there too much though(8), the motards seem to hug that inside alot in general. I like that thought process though

    Re: #399

You can do exactly the reverse if someone is holding the inside of 8, but I doubt they are. You can hold it WOT through 7 and go from curbing to rumble strip (and even a little dirt) EARLY in 8. Once you show a wheel there, you're golden.

If you choose the outside of 8, You gotta get to where you can lean on the passee pretty hard to give yourself that room you need to get to the curbing in 9 before them as they are in a position to hold the gas open longer than you are... Much more aggressive riding, and higher risk.
