Well, I do hold a tight line into and through 9, and I'm already known as Dangerous and get shit about stuffing people... maybe that's the line

I don't know what CEO pm'ed you, but I'll add my thoughts. I prefer to set up my passes on the INSIDE of 8 and OUTSIDE of 9 for safety reasons.

At mild speeds, the outside of 8 might works, but as things heat up, that gets really dodgey. There's a very fast, incredibly tight line through 8 that has you nearly leaving the pavement on the right. Not many people use it,...

I think I use that line

...so I shoot for it every time I need to pass. If someone closes that door, I can usually just back down a sec, and then get on the gas heading down into 9 and pass them at the tip in point.

With this strategy, I'm accelerating while they are decelerating and the pass happens quickly and safely. Plus, I'm the one who gets to close the door in 9, not the other guy. Occasionally, I won't beat them to the first curbing in 9, but I'm on the outside, and can close the door into 10. It's win/win/win. You have to be committed to it so as not to get shut out in 10.

I have gotten passed on the outside of 8 because I am so close to going off track in 8...

I don't know about that race, but that guy was running near the front of a couple of the novice 600 races this past weekend. Kinda funny watching a bunch of new bikes getting beat (in at least one race by a pretty good margin) by a bike that's a couple generations old.

probably more then a 750, when i was a novice, (felt good saying that)guy would power wheel into the bowl every lap. not one of those front off the ground by 2 inches. i am talking straight up like he was showing off for the girls on the highway.
