    728 LRRS Wrap

Well, that's a wrap. I wasn't expecting to run a full season this year, but once the ball was rolling I went with it. The last round is always one of mixed feelings. I had really met all of my goals already, so I wasn't super motivated to push myself too hard. I had a no crash season going, and wanted to finish that way especially because we are headed to Barber tomorrow for 4 days of riding/racing with AHRMA. Best laid plans...

It was pretty chilly out for first practice, but I was feeling good draggin elbow by lap 3. Come lap five I found myself chasing the front tire into the grass in T11. DOH!! It was an easy lowside for me, but the bike didn't like it. Now we were scrambling to fix the bike I wasn't supposed to crash. 1 bar, 1 footpeg, 1 brake reservoir, 1 faring stay, etc. I made it out for practice 2 and everything was more or less fine. Needless to say I wasn't draggin elbow this time.

GTU: I got a strong launch and slotted into 4th. A dude crashed RIGHT in front of me in T3, so now I'm in 3rd behind Guilbeault. I recovered some lost ground and and moved on by as soon as we hit backmarker traffic. I put my head down and gapped him running a strong pace, but not quite my best. 2nd place. Woot!

Dash for Cash: I got another decent start, but ceded 4th or 5th place to Pete Gaboriault in T1. He was riding lap 1 like his ass was on fire on his SV. I was chuckling to think I would just ease on by him when we hit the front straight which is exaclty what happened. I held 4th for a bit until I had a weird feeling from the bike coming out of 12. I was full gas leaning left, but the bike only wanted to go right. I nearly hit the wall and Alex G went by me. Then it happened again in 6 and I almost left the pavement. I tried one more lap but nearly binned it in T1, so I threw the hand up and came in. I found my linear steering damper had come unbolted and was occasionally jamming my steering. Phew! glad I pulled in before I got hurt on that one. DNF

Sunday I had F40MW. Scottie pulled up to pole position saying his warmers hadn't been on, so he was not going to push lap1. I got my best launch yet and bagged the holeshot as well as a 1:17 from a standing start. This was a goal Kerry had set for me, and it was a nice bonus to get that one! THis race is a cluster of traffic. Scottie eventually passed me, but I ran in second all the way til the last turn. There was a waving yellow and debris flag in 11 and I came up on a lapper right there. I had to wait to pass, then he bobbled his line blocking me and letting Adam Andrusia cut underneath and pip me at the line. 3rd DAMNIT! Hahaa, That's racing.

Until next year LRRS. In the meantime, I will have one more report from motorcycling's mecca. Stay tuned!

    Paul, that's awesome!

But I'd really appreciate a bit more info on Pete, and what caused his ass to suddenly catch fire...

(pretty much, just talk to me about Pete's ass)
