theres a saying, if youre not on the brakes then you should be on the gas. theres some credence to that. on LW bikes, you should be on the gas (OTG) BEFORE the apex of 1,2, 6, and 10.
you should be able to dive down to the bottom of 1 and start braking a few bike lengths before the end of the wall. if youre the kind of person who likes to take a wider entry into 1 then you can be back OTG while youre on the apron or just after that transition and be OTG until 1a tip in.

Re: 771 Racing - Found the wall

Dana was trying to convince me that I should be WFO all the way through 2 once I relight the fire in 1. Similar story for 11 through 12. I can't imagine trying that on an EX500, let alone the Fizzer.

I want to say Adam Butler follows your guide for T1 pretty well from what I recall. Throttle screwed on nearly to the transition seam. I know I have plenty of time to brake between there and the apex, I'm at maint or accelerating from the seam now, just need to actually do it on track. Time for another Friday practice if I can find the cash.

Hah, there is a bit of story to that beard. Since the year I was born my father has been a firefighter which has meant no beard as they interfere with air masks. He retired last year and for awhile was pretty damn shaggy. This is the first time since retirement that he's cut it back this drastically. I'll let him know you spotted the resemblance.

And you could always come back for another tow session... I wouldn't be upset... Bill might be, but not for too long.

Negative on the WFO from 1 through 2. Unless you are skipping 1a.

Well, if I cut out 1a that would be quicker, right? I think what Dana was trying to get across was if I'm not struggling to bring the bike over for 1a, I'm not hard enough on the gas out of 1. Aka there is time to be had in there just getting on the gas sooner and harder, keep incrementing until hitting my marks is getting difficult.

I like to think I learned a lot watching Adam going into T1 during the endurance race a few years ago. I say "like to" as I've not been able to apply it. I did try once and executed very, very poorly.

Like I said elsewhere, if you are using the number boards as a brake marker, you are doing it wrong!

The answer is yes. You can fix it. The question in can you say "fuck it" and do it?

Science has not yet been able to measure the infinitesimally small distance between "fuck it" and "oh FU...". But yeah, Josh can do it.
