Cliff's: Bad weekend on track, Good weekend off. 9th in ULSB after a stalled start, DNF LWGP after a bunch of push starts, the bike won't stay running. DNS LWSB when I can't fix my bike.
Saw 20 year old titties in the garage, Burn out in the back of a pickup torch was passed and Mother Fucking ICCCCEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Arrive Thursday evening and unpack in the ZTA garage, meet and greet Richie and Leeza up from FLA. Introduce Leeza to the "Sponsorhawk" and get her to work wrenching on it.
Friday AM arrives, practice is uneventful other than my transponder not working for the first session, I try and work with Bob Stone a little (his first weekend back and he bumped to expert as well) and follow him for a couple laps.
ULSB, I am really looking forward to this race, Joel Taylor (my new nemisis) is gridded right in front of me with Scott Ferguson (the fast Hawk guy) in front of him. Richie is back from Florida... If I get a good launch I might get a tow for a lap or 2 from Scott and put some distance on some of these guys!
Scott doesn't make the grid (I find out later due to transmission), 1 board is up, I hold my brake, lean forward, set my rpm, engage the clutch... Green flag flies and I do a lil wheelie, pull the clutch in and STALL. The field takes off while I try and restart. I end up giving them about a 12 second head start! FUCK!!!
I do a 1:25 out lap and just go to work, I do the math and if I am running 1:22's or better and the back markers are in the 1:25's I can get them by lap 4 or so. As I am working my way forward (and playing Rabbit for the AM field) I see experts crashing, lots of yellow flags, I am praying for a red so I can get a restart but no luck. I think 4 guys crashed out so I "moved up" pretty easy, catch Richie, leading Bob Stone and another Motard in 3, Pass the motard on the right in 5, go up the inside of Bob going into 6 and wait until the front straight to pass Richie... Is that another bike at the end of the front straight? Maybe I can catch him too! I get within 4 seconds (iirc) but blow 3 and 6 in the same lap and lose my fast. I find out later it was Joel Taylor. Finish 9th and lowered my PB by a couple 10ths. If you look at my lap times compared to the guys in front of me, I may have placed 7th if I hadn't botched the start.
Saturday, Rain, Mount the rains and go out in practice, 1st hot lap and I low side in 2. Stupid mistake, lost the front going too fast with too much lean angle. Nothing hurt but my pride. Bike appears fine.
Bike was not fine. LWGP comes and it won't stay running. It starts fine, I warm it up, shut it off, go to restart it and it turns over but won't fire. The guys in the pits try and push start me all the way to pre grid without luck, we keep trying as the field leaves for the sighting lap and it fires! I rip it around and have to start from pre grid AFTER the Amateurs! (this is gonna be fun, working through them), I sit back to wait and it stalls again! They won't let me push it until both waves leave. They are off and we try and push it again, I swear people were coming off pit wall to try and help push start it! It FIRES again and I rip off outta Pit in and join the field a lap down right behind the last expert. No problem, I'll just rip off some laps and try and do a 1:20 coming out of 12 about to make my first pass and it dies again! DNF and push the Bike (dejected) back to the pits)
I still haven't tracked it down, It is either a coil or a short of some kind. Bike starts intermittently and won't stay running. I think left turns make it worse so I need to track down my wires... Decide to cancel my entry in LWSB on Sunday. Stay for Sunday practice, think I have the bike fixed but it dies again after 1 lap.
OFF TRACK: SO sitting in the pits Friday night and chatting with friends. Drinking some beers and all of a sudden TITTIES! I avert my eyes the first time but say fuck it and take a picture the 2nd time they come out! (along with 3 or 4 other people! She will remain nameless unless she wants to come forward.
Saturday night I go out to the LDR pits and find KB. I ask if he is going to uphold tradition and do the Burn out in the back of the pickup thing again. He asks to use my ZX6r pitbike and I tell him since I am trying to sell it and it has new tires I can't "Pre teen, Csmutty" chimes in that he can use his EX racebike. Much kidding insues. Can an EX500 do a burnout? We need to take off the exhaust to make it sound better!.
Long story short, KB drives CSMutty's DAD's truck while CSmutty has the torched passed and does an impressive burnout AROUND THE INFIELD pits in the back of the pickup on his EX500!!! There is video proof! Awesome way to close out my Classic weekend!
