2012 Lrrs Round 2
LW AM 820
Rada races Part 2
I came into the weekend looking to see how things were going to work out as an Am for the first time.
Saturday practice went pretty well. I rolled off some 23s warming up.
Saturday I only ran one race. Race 8 AM LW GP. Since I have no point I was gridded in the cheap seats, 4C. I got a half decent start and managed to exit T1 in 4th behind Keith Draghi. I picked off 769 on entry to T3 the set off after Brett Larson (226). He put up quite a fight for the next 4 or 5 laps then I managed to get him in T11. By then Rau 245 was long gone. Finished P2. Best lap 1:21.38 Overall a good race.
Sunday practice was pretty decent. I spun up a 1:20.6 (new PB) in the second session. I was thrilled to come into the garage and see my name second on the scoring tower to Mullin.
Race 3 was AM LW SS. Again I started in back 3A. Right behind my bud 769 Mr. Draghi. When the green flag flew I got over anxious and wheelied 2 or 3 times and dropped into T1 mid pack. I managed to wheel my way up through the pack until I got to Bill Coolahan. From there it was on. Bill and I had an epic battle for the rest of the race with him coming out on top. I scored a third to Bill’s second. What an exciting race. Best lap was a 1:21.8.
Race 6 Am F40 Lights: Just 4 of us on the grid but they sent us out with the big bikes. KB beat me to T1. I passed him on the opening lap then made my way through all but one of the Am F40 big bikes. Best lap 1:20.9.
Cliffs: 2nd, 3RD , 1st. New PB 1:20.6.
This was a fantastic first AM weekend. I didn’t get the starts I wanted but I raced well and got 3 podiums. My sweet wife Wendy and Boose were there to cheer me on along with all my other Garage 2 buds. I want to thank Emma (Boose) for all her hard work in the pits and Wendy for all she does to help me get to a race and have everything that I need. I could not do this without these two fabulous ladies.
Also thanks to my garage mates Cool Dave, Jetta Jay and MadMonkey Lou for just being cool ass buds. I also want to thank the ECK and RSP guys for the positive mentoring that they openly give.
See you cats at the Classic.
