Re: AM 951, Round 6 Race report.

I don't think I've ever met you, but why is it that this whole crew it seems every time I read a race report involves:

    1. I crashed
    2. My bike broke
    3. I crashed
    4. I crashed again
    5. My engine broked.

Seriously... I hope you don't take someone else out... if you're always having crashes and mechanicals, maybe take a step back and chill...?

Not trying to be a dick, honestly.

Remember that whole debate about doing a bunch of trackdays before getting into racing?

Haste makes waste and when you're hell bent on going out there to race, other things tend to get overlooked.

AJ - Please allow yourself the opportunity to get some rider coaching. I have never seen you ride but I have a good idea what's going on with your crashing.

Re: AM 951, Round 6 Race report.

Crashing and mechanicals may force me to take a step back.. These failures are getting costly.

But I don't think not showing up for a round or two will help me not crash, I believe more seat time and a slightly different additude will be the only way to do that... There are a few people I know and respect a lot at the track, and will listen to what they advise me to do. They know me, know how I ride, watch most of my races and will tell me (i think) if they think I am dangerous or a hazard.

As for trackdays before racing, I have done them. Not at loudon and a while back but I have done my share of trackdays.

Come to boston moto trackdays this weekend and practice on that hawk with some fast guys to help you. A few spots still left in advanced.

When I said take a step back I didn't mean not race... I mean take a step back, examine what you're doing on and off the track that isn't working, and take a methodical approach to improving incrementally.

There is a huge difference between riding hard and focused, and riding on the ragged edge and chucking your bike down the track. Aggressive and confident vs out of control and ohshitohshitohshit every turn.

I am slow but would be glad to give you any help/advice I can. Like I said, not trying to be a dick. Although if I race the tard in any of your gridsI'm thinking I would make sure I got out in front from the start...

Yah..um, Thought i was doing that by not rushing the hawk motor into the bike and using the ex instead... Good move off the track, bad moves on.

This weekend was a tough one for me. Dissapointed a couple of my friends...

Nah, you can just let me get out front and wait for me to crash outa the lead, then just ride by. Worked for Don this weekend.

This isn't about more seat time, it's what you are able to do with that time. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps there is a singular reason for all these crashes? There is a HUGE difference between someone watching you on the sidelines as opposed to a rider coach being out there with you on track and in real time. Forget about knowing and respecting people because, from an outsider's perspective, that method is not working. Not being a dick but this is the harsh reality and IMO seeking real-time, on-track help is likely going to be your biggest advantage in order for you to avoid giving 1st place away every weekend.

    ugh... again?

I'm going to be a dick here and say up-front that now that you're on the track at the same time as the experts I'm glad I've decided to stop racing. from what I know/have seen you're a hell of a nice guy off the track and making constant bad decisions on the track.

I'll also say I'm sure there are other AM's I'd feel this way about if I knew them, but I don't so you get to hear it

Sorry you feel that way, understandable i guess. But I will also say (as you have said) i'm not the only crasher out there, and have I talked to a couple people who are experts now and had rookie seasons similar to mine.

I expose myself to a bit more critisim due to NESR and the race reports. Honestly I thought of stopping writing a them a couple weeks back as to not advertize my crashes but I started writing them and will continue to for the rest of the season. I will take in all the input/critisisim, constructive and otherwise as long as it comes.

Bergs, I would love the opportunity to be analyzed. I am going to go over my finances and see if going to the bomo day is realistic. If not maybe i can seek out some help in a Friday practice now that i'm on track with some better riders.

Not pushing an agenda. I honestly feel that some one-on-one time with an experienced rider would yield some incredible results for you. Whichever organization or person you choose doesn't make a lick of difference to me. I know in my heart that if you can find a way to harness your speed and turn it into something controllable you will be force to be reckoned with out there.....that and you won't have to hand podium-finishes over to the riders behind you.
