    AM978 - Season Recap

No race report for me....due to a lack of health insurance I had to sit out the last round. I still went up and hung around and helped in the garage, but man did it suck being on the sidelines.

Started this season on a bike brand new to me and my first time on a motard. Only track experience I had was 4 track days under my belt on a Daytona 675.

Got some trophies as a novice, bumped to Am by the third round.

With only three rounds as an Am I managed to get my lap times down from 1:29 my rookie weekend to 1:21.3. Crashed a whole bunch of times, met some of the coolest dudes I know, and got better every weekend. So glad this year worked out for me how it did, despite the final race weekend being a wash. Just so you all know, I petitioned for expert plates for the final round and got turned down, so hoping to do that EARLY next season.

    Race results and PBs

    Weekend 1 (novice): 1:29.425
    Rookie Race: 2nd
    Novice Formula 3: DNS
    Novice Rookie 4: 1st
    Novice Starter 4: 1st

    Weekend 2 (novice): 1:24.293
    Novice Formula 3: 3rd
    Novice Formula 4: 2nd
    Novice Rookie 3: 2nd
    Novice Starter 3: 2nd

    Weekend 3 (Amateur): 1:23.390
    Supersingles: 2nd
    Motard: 2nd
    ULSB: 1st
    LWSB: 12th

    Weekend 4 (Amateur): 1:21.996
    Supersingles: 1st
    Motard: 1st
    ULSB: 3rd
    LWSB: 10th

    Weekend 5 (Amateur): 1:21:984
    Supersingles: 1st
    Motard: 1st
    ULSB: 1st
    LWSB: 4th

    Weekend 6 (Amateur): 1:21:370
    Supersingles: 1st
    Motard: 1st
    ULSB: 1st
LWSB: 7th (crashed out of first place on the last lap)

Managed to walk away with the Class championships in supersingles and motard (due to the really small grids). Had I been around all 7 weekends as an Am I think I would have given Bill a run for his money for the ULSB championship and made that last race in the rain VERY interesting.

Adam, Lou, Dave and Marco. Such a great season all around. You guys are awesome can't wait til next season. All the best with the growing family Lou, I'm really happy for you.

ECK and RSP, thanks for all the good times. I love our corner of the garage in general.

Christian, thanks for all the parts and CRF knowledge, you really helped me get my season off right. Its getting completely rebuilt this winter so you can bet I'll be bothering you a bit more. My motor was getting tired as the season went on, so with a fresh build to start off the year I'm hoping for some serious improvement in the first few weekends.

Everyone else I've met at the track...you're all awesome. Haven't met a single person up there I couldn't shoot the shit with on the daily.

In the future, I have a lot more room to improve on the Motard so I'm going to stick with it for next season...after that I may pick up a middleweight and see what I can do. If something pops up this off season, I may be interested as a second track bike, but really for track days. Not sure I can afford to race one quite yet.

Can't wait to see you all next year. Hopefully sooner!

    Re: AM978 - Season Recap

That's an incredible season, with such little experience (and none on that bike) it's amazing how quickly you progressed. You have real talent, and nerves of steel to boot. I'm not sure how many times I saw you working on a sizable issue five minutes before a race, out of leathers, without worry....and you always made the grid. I am looking forward to seeing your progress next year.

Surprised they didn't allow the bump with those times and placement. Oh well, early next year like you said.

I'm really glad we hooked up to form G2. It was a great year surrounded by awesome, genuine people.

In addition to +1ing what everyone else has said, this quote warrants special reptition. I certainly didn't live in G2 most of the time, but I don't think I ever saw you w/o your cool regardless of what was going on.

Also, Carla is the perfect trackdog

great job man. 21's on a dirtbike is no joke, and i'm positive if you hadn't binned it on the last round you ran, you'd probably be sporting now backgrounds. hopefully i fall into a pile of cash sometime soon, i'd love to get out and bang some bars with ya.

Thanks everybody for the kind words. Glad to be apart of it.

And dammit, I will work on my hugs for next season.

Oh, and the main reason for the thread bump....I got a nice random email from Wanda this morning. Kinda made my day today.
