Central Mass Powersports Round 4 #316

Saturday during practice the bike had no power and sounded awful. I came in and talked to a few people and decided that spark plugs would be the first plan of attack. The CBR1k has to be one of the worst bikes to work on in this respect. Took forever to get to the plugs and required a special tool to get them out even when I did (thanks Brett). Took them out and saw a shade of white I have never seen on a plug before and the porcelain closest to the electrode was a rust color because it had gotten so hot. Matt came over and offered to take a look at the map also after we had changed the plugs. Map was super lean and was taking away lots of fuel when into the higher percentages of throttle and higher rpms. He loaded a map from the power commander site and the bike fired up and sounded great yet again. Win.

UNGP - Got a decent start and ended up 4th into T1. Kept 4th place and rode my own race until I saw a bike from the front 3 pack, Rossi Tabor, on the ground. Got lucky with the 3rd place in this race, but I'll take it. Best time was a 1:16.9. I am now 3rd place in the class for the championship.

UNSS - Got 4th off the start behind Doucette, Greenwood, and Roger Ealy Jr. Made a pass on the inside on T3 on the brakes to take Roger for 3rd. Just rode my own race until lap 5 when Zev Ginsberg appeared behind me coming out of T4. I put my head down for the rest of the lap and managed to finish in 3rd again with Zev right behind me. Best time was slow...a 1:17.5. I was way too relaxed after the rain haha. I am 3rd in UNSS points as well now.

UNSB - Got into 4th place and again steeled in until I missed a shift going down the hill into the bowl and Zev was right there to pass me on the inside. All of a sudden he also slowed and I got by him. After talking to him after the race he also missed a shift going into the bowl haha. What a lucky break for me! Kept him held off until the last lap. Could hear his R6 behind me after every corner. In 11 I took it wide because I had been passed there on the last lap last year to lose 2nd place... And to my surprise he still managed to find room on the outside of 11 going into 12. I had to get on the binders and lost all momentum for a drive out of 12A for 4th. Tried to get on the gas to catch him after slowing but all I could manage was spinning the rear up. (the tires had 6 races on them as well as practice at this point). Managed to get 5th with a best lap time of 1:16.5. Not going to lie it was super hard to congratulate him on the win on the cool down lap and it took me a third of the cool down lap to "cool down" enough to do it as I had put so much effort into that last lap. Talked to Pete and Gino after the race and learned how to prevent this pass in the future. Am currently 5th in this championship.

Huge thanks to Central Mass Powersports again this round for helping to get the bike prepped and ready to take on the competition as well as Chris Dove for the companionship, awesome t shirt, and of course the cheater liter bike. I still can't believe I got 6 races out of the Pirellis and still had plenty of rubber to do 16's on them. Can't say enough about these tires. And thanks again to the corner workers for taking care of us out there this weekend especially. And TSS Graphics lastly...the vinyl on the bike looks so sick. I am not worthy. And Jen Reese...thanks for the sweet shot

fuck the design of that bike. drop the radiator to get the air duct out of the way enough to get to the plugs. horrible. but we got it done with only a few curse words and no busted knuckles.

    good job.

Great job Christian! You're looking more and more comfortable on the bike.

It's amazing how many race miles you got out of those Pirelli V2's! Maybe a new set for next round?
