Been too long since I did wunna these!
Round 2 went pretty well. Skipped Saturday for a wedding with Jackie that was pretty frikkin awesome. I know I'll get shit on for saying this, but with the amazing weather, food, booze & of course company, I really didn't miss the track all that much! Had a great time. (I'm sure Jackie will post the pix. lol)
Sunday I arrived in the morning in time for my usual second practice. Went out, rolled around, shook off the cobwebs (and a little bit of a hangover) and eventually turned in a couple of "respectable" laps.
Race 2 - First race of my weekend was LWSS for a change (usually the schedule puts LWSB first, which I prefer). I got a nice jump and had a great drag race to T1 with Jesse Sandoz on my left. We were side by side passing the flagging stand but I didn't back down. I leaned right in on him as we came down onto the apron and he backed off. I turned a nice opening lap with a 1:21.1. Jesse tried getting past me into T1 on lap 2 and almost pulled it off but I moved back around him & held the lead until he motored past me down the front straight the next time around. Ricky got me a few turns later when I missed a downshift heading down into the bowl. I was worried about losing more ground when I wasn't able to get it back into gear as quick as I wanted, but luckily the three of us broke away from the rest of the pack early and put a good 5 second gap on the 88 of Chris Cucinotta. I got back down into the 17's with a 17.6 which I was pleased with and with a red flag on lap 7 that's how it ended, on the last step of the podum.
Race 9 - LWSB went alright... I got a pretty good jump but missed the holeshot by a bike and a half and slotted in behind Seth Hahn and Jesse Sandoz. My outlap was respectable with a 21.8 but I couldn't quite get up to my usual pace. Got passed, first by Ricky, then by Sean Byrnes (both on the straight if I recall), putting me back to 5th until the checkered. Best lap was a medeocre 1:18.001.
I wanna thank my girlfriend for being a dead sexy umbrella girl, stealin looks from the competition (busted, Cucinotta!) and as always all of my teammates for their support and our sponsors for all of their help. And a special shout-out to Peter Kates at GMD Computrack for helping me gett my bike straightened out with a suspension refresh and some brute force metal bending.
