I keep a digital camera handy when pulling things apart. Has proven invaluable a couple times. And proven to still not be enough some others.

Good luck next round. Stay shiny side up!

I plan to really invest in rider practice on Friday and relearn the bike. When I was riding her on the street, she was running well, had lots of torque all the way through the throttle range. I expect that things will feel much better and I will be able to 'get on it' with more smoothness. Taking photos is a great idea!

You'll never use all the power.

you sure they didn't tell you the numbers for someone else's 1098? it would take a lot of motorwork to get an 848 to almost 140hp

You can't really compare numbers between dynos, one may read 110hp, with the same bike in the same conditions another may read 130hp, etc. Best way to use a dyno is to compare deltas from the same unit, IE if you start reading 110hp, make some changes and now the same dyno says you're dropping 130hp to the rear wheel, you know you've gained.

I know all dynos are different but to be off 20-25hp from every other dyno of the same bike seems a bit out there. unless their dyno is way out of whack or they are measuring at the crank.

    Re: Nov #358 Round 1

Some quick googling returned the following spread:

    http://image.sportrider.com/f/385008...dyno-graph.jpg - 118.6hp box stock
    http://hypertrick.net/upload/file/84...endantTest.jpg - 125hp box stock, 128hp with a slipon
    http://www.ducati.org/forums/attachm...48_evo_all.jpg - 127hp stock, 133.8hp full system

Give me some more time and I'm sure I can find lower and higher reads. Dynos vary FAR more than you'd expect, and if you start comparing across brands of dynos, Factory Pro vs DynoJet being the classic example you'll see even WIDER differences.

you don't have to do anymore searching. I'm not trying to start shit or anything. I can see a 10-15hp variation easily but 20-25 is starting to push it. It could be just a high reading dyno and she has a really good bike from the factory making the numbers look really good.

Hah, not trying to start anything either. Was just sharing some personal experience. If need be, I'm more than willing to hug it out over hot fudge sundays?

Totally correct! However it is important to note that I will have more power and more stabile acceleration curve. It was really sad to have the engine bog down when I twisted it. Dumb blond mistake that will never happen again! - diz

I tink Dana is playin' mind games to psych out all the novices. First the "never done this before" sandbag, then the dyno numbers, then some times in the teens on the second round and all us rookies will run away, leaving ROTY wide open.

Interesting, I thought the rulebook specifically prohibited mid event bumps?

he was Amateur the whole weekend not just sunday but they made him do the rookie race on saturday since he was still a rookie. so technically I guess he didn't get bumped in the middle of the weekend.

Ok, I saw the AM plates during the rookie race and just assumed he was borrowing a bike.
