NV #107 Classic Report

  1. #26

    Re: NV #107 Classic Report

I'm not even going to think about bumping for a while, thanks for the vote of confidence though 6FM. I'll end the year in NV and shoot for AM next year. I've got a total of 5 races with 1 DNF, missing July, so that leaves me August, September, and October to race. Gives me 8 races unless I can find some $$$$ to register for a couple more.

I think i've been a mature racer. No crashes, and no close calls. If I can keep my times down consistently, then I'm shooting for AM next year.

Every weekend???? Dude, practice or not, if I crashed that often I would have quit racing by now. Fuck that.

This reminds me of Connor Joyce. Young 16 year old rookie on an EX500. Very fast but was always crashing out. I was sitting next to him in the Infield Medical Center after one of our buddies got his bell rung. I looked at Connor's leathers & noticed how patched and beat up they were.

"Connor, didn't you just get that suit last year?"
    "Yup"
"How many times have you crashed in it?"
    "Um.... twenty two, I think"

I remember him. Got the reputation for crashing, word goes around in the pits "DON'T be near this kid on the track. Do whatever you need to do to be away from him." And he's not racing any more.

6, if you're crashing that much, you need to rethink your mindset on the track. You're going fast, great. But maybe you need to back down just a little bit and keep it on 2 wheels. Learn to go faster more slowly. Remember that you're only racing for plywood. Sooner or later one of those crashes is going to hurt you or someone else. Like everyone has said, I'm not trying to be a dick. We're actually looking out for you (and everyone else on the track).

I'm trying to convice him to change that. I have a trailer full of race prep gear that's going to gather dust until next year.

Ya, that has been the theme of the week... My plan for NJ is to not crash and that is my only plan. Same for the next lrrs round.

You don't have to try. I think it comes naturally to you.

And on topic, congrats on the PB.

I appreciate it John. I did bite the bullet and buy myself an ez-up from walmart the second race weekend. I also took our brainstorm, empty 5 gallon buckets as well and it works like a charm. Any chance you'd be up for a visitor tomorrow trouble?

as far as tire warmers, I do plan on buying yours from you doc. I'll try to catch up with you this week.

I get that. but there is something to be said about honing your riding in increments so you don't go out for nothing in a ball of flames.

Street & Comp has those liquid filled gauges for ~$40, definitely a good investment. Of course, you can swing by the garage any time to use one of ours.
