Well, it's over.
Here's the rundown: drove up Saturday morning, missed first practice as usual. Came in from actual practice and I had oil everywhere. Turd dudes know that they weep, but this was bad, unraceable bad. After enlisting some help around the pits (Heath is my go-to) found a bad clutch cover gasket, and kickstarter seal. Call freedom cycle, they got the stuff. Cool.
Get out of my leathers, and collect my shit, no wallet. Panic! Luckily my homie Scotty K just happened to be at the track (gf was at the BMW driving school) and had a fistful of cash. (which was perfect cuz I wouldn't have gotten home with no fuel). So I fly, get parts and oil, perform surgery, and am up and going before race 8.
Ulsb: finish 3rd, run consistent 25s, had a helluva save after I wash the front in 12, hold the bike up with my knee and catch it pointed at the cw's against the NASCAR wall. A hard left onto the front straight and braaap! The highlight of this was going 4 wide into t3, passing 2 of the previous wave, but giving up a pos to Lori. Sonofa...
Supersingles: I had an oily tire on my brain, and consequently slipped and slides all over. I was pushing to stay with Lori, stepped the ass real hard in 3, gave up a pos to Chauncey coming up the hill and stayed there in 4th, cruising the rest of the race.
Sunday, turd: I love this race because the ams and novices start in the same wave. So there's a good tow to be had if you're able to latch on. I got a great start, went into t1 in second. There I stayed right behind Chauncey again. I managed to pass my first am, and turn my fastest lap of the season on the last lap of the race. A new pb of 24.6. A slight bit of confusion at the checker as an expert was passing us both then, and I never saw a white, so we all slowed up. On the back straight chauncy and I were looking at each other wondering if it was our too, so we both took off again for another charge for an extra lap around. Oops! WTF, it was the end of the season, just trying to get my money's worth.
Thanks to everyone around up there. In the several disciplines of racing I've participated in, lrrs is the least cliquey, with the friendliest peeps, and the most eager to help. See you fuckers in the spring.
