My 2 cents: try and find a balance bike with a brake. My neighborhood has a lot of hills and it was stressful watching my kid’s feet skip out behind her trying to slow down and stop. I ended up adding one to her bike.

She is pretty short, so my biggest challenge was (is) seat height. She is 6 now racing bmx and putting around the yard on a PW50.

If I had to do it all over again I’d look for a used Woom 1 as a first ‘real’ balance bike. They have a seat height lower than the 12” wheel and a hand brake.

Lemme know if he's outgrown it by the time BD's ready to rock

As for the Hotwalk Carbon, this was a pretty funny video that put it on my radar forever ago.

The hotwalk carbon is on sale for $499.

It's sold out, so thinking there are going to be a lot of happy toddlers in Brooklyn this Christmas. Can a 9 month old rich flex?

The Woom does look pretty solid. Woom & Guardian are ones I know of that have brakes.

Woom has a height recommendation of 31-40 inches though, whereas the Guardian starts at 33 inches (and up to 40")

Just like the Dr says whenever we have a question. Depends... Haha. My kid could go ham on a rocker at about 1. Not much before. He had it at 10ish and he just sat on it and fell off now he's full rocking one hand. Being to early just means they'll have to grow into it. No harm no foul.
