    2001 GSXR 750 head

I believe 2000-2003 are all the same.

Must have good exhaust bolt mounting holes/threads.

I thought the 1000 head was different from the 750 head? The 00-03 750 was all the same.

You are correct. I can use a 2000-2003 750 head.

Header bolts were frozen so bad that an EZ-Out, welding a nut on, drilling out, etc all didn't work.

I have a complete good running engine minus two header bolts I'll sell you for $650 if I buy your engine.

Just looking for a head at this point.... she runs great, just those bastard bolts. Worst part? Just did a valve check and ALL of them were in spec.

Clayton- how many miles are on your GSXR? Mine just hit 22k at the track yesterday. Still runs mint after 41 track day.

    Re: 2001 GSXR 750 head

    About 27k I think?

12 of those miles are mine!

Really, just rode it to the gas station and that's it. She'll be a dedicated track bike once I get everything done to it that I want to get done.

No longer need a head. Got a good condition one with cams/valves/cover/intake boots/sensors/etc for under $90 shipped.

    Re: 2001 GSXR 750 head

Bump. Finally went to install the head. NOPE. Looks JUST like the original. Only odd thing is that the frame mounting hole is about 1/4" off. And the coolant nipple is in a different spot.

So, it's not the right head. Looks like a head from a 2008 1000. Mother fucker.

    Looking for a head. Damnit.

    Re: 2001 GSXR 750 head

Is there not a machine shop near you that could repair the old one?

If not one near you then Harry's Machined Parts in Northborough MA has done a ton of interesting work for a friend that builds some silly bikes.

    Re: 2001 GSXR 750 head

To repair the old one, they would have to cut off some aluminum and put new stuff on, then machine the surface and drill/tap.

I'm thinking it's likely cheaper to buy a used one for $70.

    Re: 2001 GSXR 750 head

I didn't figure you could find a used one in good shape for cheaper than the repair. I guess if they can be had that cheap than yes buying one is the better option.

    Re: 2001 GSXR 750 head

Still looking. Apparently EBay sellers think it's ok to ship a head with the cams loose bouncing against the head with no padding in the box. Wtf.

    Re: 2001 GSXR 750 head

Maybe just me, but I would have gone the repair your current head route before searching eBay or Craigslist. You know you have a good working head, why waist time and effort sorting through junk and trust someone else's word...which has failed you twice already?

    Re: 2001 GSXR 750 head

Guaranteed good head is on it's way.

I'd be curious to see how much it would cost to fix the old head. It would involved cutting off aluminum, welding new stuff back on, then machining down a clean surface, then drilling/tapping. All right next to the exhaust port. Twice. I'm betting it's more than I'm spending on a decent used head by a BIG margin.
