2005 Toyota 4Runner A/C amplifier

Need what's listed in the title. Toyota of Nashua wants $485. I'd like to avoid spending that since I'm already $200 in for diagnostics and a recharge.

ah, I see. I am sure you already checked eBay also. Where is the amplifier? Easy to access?

The amplifier is a grey box behind the fan control panel so yes, easy to get to. I don't use E-shady so I figured I'd ping a few forums to see what comes up.

I don't know what the hell Bonanza is, but the same people are listing it for ~$60.

Yeah, I saw those after a Google search. What concerns me is they are listed for an SR5. I have a Limited

There is seemingly a difference in models equipped with or without the Auto feature but I have not been able to check if they are in fact different part numbers.

If you can figure out the part numbers thing and you order the EBay one, I'll put $40 in your pocket for your time

According to Toyota 88650-35231 Amplifier assy, air conditioner, ?1 - Toyota genuine OEM part this part was used in both the Limited and the SR5.

Is the 88650-35231 # actually from yours, or is that looked up somewhere?

The fleabay one shows 88650-35231 printed on the amplifier assembly.

FWIW, my 08 started life as an SR5 but also has auto climate control.

Mine has the same molded part number as you see in the examples you posted.

As long as the seller is trustworthy I'd say order it up if you wouldn't mind and let me know final cost.

In an effort to keep this updated (and as I suspected all along) the issue was NOT the a/c amplifier.

First off, a huge thank you to jasnmar for fronting the money (and time) to purchase the a/c amp and delivering it to me on Friday (and also thanks for letting me short you on the money until Sunday).

Failure was instantly reaized Friday night while Jason was still at my house so Saturday morning I went through the diagnostic procedures I had and, long story short, discovered that I had code 23 being displayed on the control panel. Searched the web, located the A/C and heater control DTC's for a 2006 RAV4 and saw that the same code is related to the pressure sensor and the a/c amplifier on that vehicle . Went out on a limb and started tracing the wires from the pressure sensor and noticed two sections of broken wires. Grabbed the soldering iron and the rest is history!

I left a mssg with the shop Saturday morning to which they called back this morning. This was a bit surprising since I am a new customer to them (within 6mos) and I know I pissed off the owner last Saturday by suggesting they use the diag procedures I could provide to them. Well, we had a nice talk today and they have a much clearer understanding of what I expect in the future......especially since, not once but twice, I encouraged them to use the procedures I had which would have saved on time, effort and also my dashboard being ripped apart.

Looks like I'm getting free mounting and balancing for a while...

Funny bergs, my 4Runner is having issues and all my attempts to diagnose/fix have failed. Taking it to the dealer on monday

Have you seen my thread on T4R? There are 3 diagnostic procedures which were posted a while back...one in particular has you using the control panel to look for error codes. If you need further guidance using those procedures to diagnose, you know how to find me.

ooh, I'd love a TRD super I have wanted one for a long time.

But even with a super, the wimpy V6 motor only makes 300 hp / 320 ft-lbs, right? And there are no tuners selling tunes so you are limited to TRD's low numbers.

Piggyback or standalone ECU and a custom tune would be the only way. To my knowledge no one has been successful at breaking into the factory ECU on either the 6 or 8.
