Interesting... I was under the impression that the XC/XC-W had the same timing/mapping while the SX got a different head/cylinder/cdi to wake it up? In my use case none of that actually matters, as it's just the clutch and transmission that'll be retained anyways. :P
I think the 250 changes between the models but the 300 doesn't.
The part numbers for the ECU's and the cylinder heads are different between XC's and XC-W's (given same model year).
The XC also has a "semi-close ratio" gearbox, with taller 1st and 2nd gears, while the XC-W has a wide ratio box.
