Love both my AKs. I have a WASR (7.62) and a converted Saiga in 5.45

Both go bang every time and neither get cleaned(I make sure to use non corrosive ammo). The WASR has a few thousand rounds through it. Ammo is cheap and plentiful for them. I get gold tiger for $.25/rd for both calibers.

Warsrs get the job done but yes watch out for canted site blocks, in my humble opinion if you're going to buy an AK buy a cheap one if you want to spend a lot of money get AR. I like yugos, Egyptian, and bulgarians over romanians but I've owned 2 and they never failed to go bang. You will most likely need to fix the trigger slap buy century has done a nice job fixing that problem over the years with a different spring configuration.

Got a Russian made Izhmash Saiga imported by Arsenal Inc. If I remember correctly it's the SGL 21 model (considered a top tier AK).
    www.arsenalinc.com/usa/downloads/SGL21.pdf‎

Got it out the door for 800ish back in the summer of 2010. Now it's going for $1200-$1600. Hell WASR's used to be 300-400ish. Now I'm seeing them 600-800ish.

    Re: AK 47

That is not a WASR in that photo. That is a Russian AK74M (5.45x39). Made by Izmash in Russia. It has a folding stock and the ak74 flash hider. The black composite mag is not curved like a ak47 magazine. I have a rifle made to look exactly like it. WASRs were imported with a single stack magazine and converted out to accept double stack mags by the local importer. That is why they dont have the magazine dimple like you see in that photo. They are just as reliable as a "true" AK though as the FCG (fire control group) is the same as the military grade variety.

    I have 2 AK 47s in 7.62x 39- 1 Romanian and 1 Bulgarian
    2 Ak 47s in 5.56 caliber
    5 AK74s. 3 Bulgarian and 2 Romanian.

They are my absolute most favorite firearm. Very, Very reliable and scares people at the range.

PM me if you have specific questions.

I bought myself a Yugo imported from CAI for $600 plus shipping/transfer, I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but a couple other people I know bought the same one and love it, no problems.

For about the same price as I've seen WASR's going for, you get a lot better rife IMHO.

I like Golden Tiger a lot. Better than the Wolf and Tulu crap. Only place that sells GT in 7.62x39 is in NH. Have you ever come across it in Mass?

Yea their signage is great! The last time I went I think I met the owner. Seemed like a very nice guy and thanked me many times for my business.

    Re: AK 47

Since the OP is located in Mass. The two places I know that typically have AK's are the following FFLs:

    GFA Arms in Natick
Zero Hour Arms in Easton (haven't actually been there but know they carry them).

Based on recommendations I ended up going to GFA Arms in Natick for AK shopping (it's closer to where I live too). GFA had quite a bit of AK's to choose from in the summer of 2010. Now, I have no idea what he has for stock. You could call them and see what he has before driving over. Keep in mind that prices on AK's have doubled since Sandy Hook (from what I've seen).

Remember though, you can buy long guns in NH and leave the store with them. No need to ship to a MA FFL

    Re: AK 47

Sorry yes wasr 10, century arms is a company that imports them and stamps them. I didn't get a price though, I've owned 2 in the past and they might not have been pretty but they always went bang. And you get that warm fuzzy feeling every time you charge an Ak. Shooters outpost has sigs too but I'm not sure of the configuration ban wise.

Yes. But a few years ago.

I just checked my stock. Actually have 17k of golden tiger, 2k of sliver bear, 1k of brown bear and 8 k of wolf.

    All in either 233, 7.62x 39 or 5.45x39.

That doesnt include my .308, 9mm or .22lr
