    FOUND: Chain Rivet Tool

Heading says it all... need a chain tool for setting/securing rivet master links.

Seems I had one some years back, but... ???
Hoping someone has an extra they'd part with reasonably.

    Steve

You can pick one up real cheap at Harbor freight: Haven't used one but itis a third of the cost of a Motion Pro.... http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=66488

If you're still in Cranston there is one down the road from you: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...l_Store_ID=260

That doesn't appear able to rivet new link.

I just bought the HF chain breaker and I own the Motion Pro river tool/chain breaker one as well. Unfortunately the parts aren't interchangeable between them.

Actually used the one I picked up a while back today for the first time and you are right. It does not have a rivet compression feature just a "break" function. Maybe I am getting lazy or heaven forbid - smarter.... I like being able to remove the chain quickly and use a masterlink with a clip rather than a rivet. Just me. The rivet is definitely the more common "style"

I had not even heard of a rivet type masterlink until I switched from dirt to street.
