    Dirt bike stand

The YZ is too tall for my normal 5 gallon bucket. So figure I should be proper and get a stand. Anyone selling one?
Or even a recommendation for a good stand?

    Re: Dirt bike stand

I've tried a few of the easy lift stands out there and by far the best one was the MSR-HP. The most stable and easy to lift stand I've seen or used. It's adjustable height so it works with the MX bikes and will also work with a superMoto set up. I even tried it with my quad just to see how it worked...was effortless to left up a 425lb quad.
I don't remember exactly what I paid for it, but it was very reasonable and in line with other quality stands

    on the cheaper end...

my FMF lift stand has been aging well, pretty stable but only has three legs, ~$75

scored a Moose aluminum (rigid) stand this season for ~$70, seems well made, has a removable parts tray, but watch the sharp edges when new!

Thats what Ive been using. But I have the cheaper one that doesnt have the removable tray. I bent it a little trying to start the bike on it but other then that its been a good stand. I think the YZ will fit but just barely. Both tires might just touch the ground. Its a tall bike compared to most.

    Re: Dirt bike stand

do you want a stand that lifts the bike when you step on it?

    or just a solid one?

    harbor freight has both:

    stand w' lift is $32:

    solid stand is $30:

I have a light bike (2-stroke 125) and I don't really muscle around the stand or do anything crazy with it, and it holds the bike just fine

I want a Risk Racing RR1 now, just saw vid of it in use... holy lazy man's stand. The dark squirrel would have an easier time with his motard using one.

    Re: Dirt bike stand

I own both those hf stands. I don't recommend either. The lifter will lower itself if agnate lands on the release, and the solid stand almost has no rubber left on it any more.
Spend the money, get a good one, and be done.

    Re: Dirt bike stand

Maybe I'm just a cheap prick, maybe I'm impatient, but once I decided I wanted one I built it. Chop saw, scrap pieces of 2x4, and a scrap piece of plywood for a "parts shelf". It cost nothing (I had the lumber and screws lying around, but if you already have a saw you could buy everything for under $10 and it's solid as can be.

Only thing I can think of that could become an issue is I ride a light 125. A heavier bike, I may want a stand that lifted the bike off the ground with the foot pedal. If you don't mind hefting the thing onto the stand yourself, I'd prefer my homemade job over a lot of metal stands, especially the cheapie HF stands. Mine sure as shit isn't going to bend jumping on the kick start when the bike is on the stand.
