Where we moved there was no garage so we are building a 3 car attached garage.

Overall we have cut down probably 20 30-60' tall oak trees for the addition and to make more lawn.

I have been slowly cutting it all up and its a HUGE pain in the ass. A lot of the butts can barely be cut by my 18" saw. The big dawgs are still lying there till I feel froggy. I have a pretty huge woodpile going, I dunno, 4-5 cord maybe?

Do you know how many people have asked me, "Hey, are you gonna keep all that wood man? Do you guys even have a woodstove? What are you doing with that wood?"

Some people have asked more than once.

    Its getting really annoying.

Real subtle hints at me giving you like $1k worth of oak firewood.

Yes we have a fucking woodstove

What's the difference between a bolt and a screw?
First you screw, then you bolt.

Savas - You can burn anything you want. It all depends on how often you want to clean your chimney. The folks that sold me my house were burning varnished scraps of trim in the woodstove for God knows how long....which later led to a chimney fire due to lack of maintenance.

I think Savas doesn't know what "hardwood" is.
    Savas, "hardwood" is not pine.

That said, properly dry your pine, burn your fires hot and clean your chimney now and then and you'd be fine burning pine.

I think you can just about burn ash without having to season it, I want to say it's lower than 24% wet when it grows.

True, you can easily burn green ash. It also has natural oils in it to help it burn hotter

Yes, I'm offering for you to come up and get your own firewood. In fact, if you hurry I've got a coupla nice stacks of dead tree tops just waiting for someone to come cut up and take away...

That being said, let's clear something up. It's not type of wood, per se that can cause chimney problems. Rather it's a constant cycle of cold flue - warm flue - cold flue - warm flue. You can burn anything you want so long as you can keep your flue at a consistent temp without worry. Condesation is far more a concern with chimneys than TYPE of wood. Although certain types of wood lends itself better to inconsistent flue temps: wet and/or most softwoods start slowly (low heat), then find it's heat cycle (high heat), and shortly thereafter smolder (low heat). You can have creosote problems with even the best seasoned wood if you don't burn properly...
