A friend of mine is in real need of a reliable, cheap vehicle. It can be a car or small pick-up truck (easy on gas), that will pass inspection in Masssachusetts (no major rust, cracked windows/panels, etc.). Something under $800. Anyone has something like that laying around?

Interested in a 1994 Geo Metro?I may be able to get my boss close to $800 on that one.
It would be fine, I'll have to ask her. She said it has to be in good shape with no repairs needed. She's not expecting a nice looking car, just something that is reliable, that will pass inspection in MA with no problem and in no need of any repairs.

She may be asking for a lot with a budget of $800. I dont think your going to find a car that doesnt need something for that kinda cash. But hey, I've been wrong before!
800 is tough for a no issue / inspectable car
I have this 1999 Cavaliar less than 100K no issues / inspectable in Mass but it is 1500.
TIMMYDUCK
I am pretty sure the Geo needs nothing but a new home. Boss just did the timing belt and water pump along with the main accessory belt and an alignment. The car is in zip 02919 and we'll be back at the shop Monday after 0800. He is asking 1200 but it's somewhat flexible. $800 may be a stretch but I'll see what I can do. It is possible to find a good cheap car out there. My first car I bought from a guy on OD5U, a Toyota Camry '91, barely any rust, in nice condition both esthetically and mechanically...paid $500 and sold it back a year later for the amount. That car ran rock solid the whole time I had it.
I passed along the info to her, thanks!
