Looking for a small trailer to transport 1 motorcycle

I am looking to buy a small trailer capable of transporting 1 motorcycle (Multistrada sized and smaller for example). I am somewhat biased towards something like the Kendon, but less expensive if such a unicorn exists.

    Recommendations and pointers are welcome.

I've got an extra 4x8 Harbor Frieght trailer that would work mint for one bike. I regularly tow to North Carolina with two bikes on mine.

    $200

If OP doesn't grab it, I might be interested in the Harbor Freight trailer. Been trying to not go out and buy a new one at Tractor Supply.

Thanks. But will pass for now, while I try to locate a used Kendon.

Kenyon's are beautiful. But folks have used the HF kits for all kinds of moto trailer builds.

Harbor Freight Trailer | Adventure Rider

This build is perhaps my favorite.

Some folks flip the axle to lower the CG, which requires changing the fender mounts, which suck anyway.

Thanks for this background on HF mods. I will have to look into this more seriously.

You can usually find used Kendons on Craigslist for between $800-$1500, depending on type (1 bike or 2?) and age. I would suggest expanding your search to all New England states, though.

I have a single-rail Kendon which I'd sell for the right price as I need to upgrade to a double.

I bought a small 4' x 6' utility/landscape type trailer at Lowes for $350 that is surprisingly heavy duty. I only use it around the farm for hauling wood, stones, etc, but I'd be 100% confident hauling around a sportbike or a couple dirtbikes with it. It has 1200lb capacity.

Re: Looking for a small trailer to transport 1 motorcycle

I will never understand why anyone buys a Kendon except for the bling factor. My 8"-wheeled, HF foldable utility trailer, purchased used, was towed by various vehicles at 75+ mph loaded with 1 or 2 bikes (and several times double the SL unloaded), between GA and AL, and CT to NJ, NY, CT, MA, and NH. I greased the bearings once in six years (and that was unnecessary; they looked beautiful when I pulled them). I paid probably $200 for it (again, used)...and it folded damn near the same as the Kendon. The only other maintenance I did was paint the decking that the PO had installed, and install a set of LED taillights....because #bling

It isn't always easy to find used HF trailers in good condition. Many have been ridden hard and put away very wet. So you end up looking at a new HF trailer, the time to build it, the time (and expense) to customize it.. and a used Kendon ends up looking like a pretty good proposition. Admittedly, comparing new with used isn't exactly fair, but...

Re: Looking for a small trailer to transport 1 motorcycle

or, just buy one when someone like me posts up a nice one in this thread for cheap.

They are so easy to come by that I had two.

You Kendon people can keep them. Not worth it unless you are towing every day with the thing. Difference in price pays for a busy season of track days or even a cheap dirt bike.

Clayton some of these fellas would buy a year of colonoscopies performed by Roto-Rooter as long as they were sold as "motorcycle specific" colonoscopies. I'm with you though HF trailer FTW, it can do something other than hauling bikes.

Anyone who may be selling a cheap stand-up trailer in the future, keep me in mind. I'll be looking for one soon and have very limited room and can't bring myself to spend the money on a Kendon.

You forget a big reason why people get small folding trailers to start with: ease of storage and ease of setup/tear down. If you don't have a big yard to just roll the trailer onto as is, you need to break it down and tuck it away right? And you want to be able to do that quickly and by yourself without always asking for a second pair of hands to help right?

I have had a HF trailer and two kendons. I don't think any of them towed any differently. But the Kendons were 15 minutes from wall to loading bikes to setting off, any time of the day, by myself, every time. HF trailers were absolutely not, and a pain in the ass to setup.

That is why people buy kendons. Not because they are "bling" And Kendons age well too, they are a solid, well made product.

While I admit to never touching a Kendon before, my HF was also 15 mins from wall to drive-away. The worst part was actually pulling the thing across my shitty, pitted garage floor; once I got it outside, the rest was easy.
