    Supermoto

So apparently theres a race track only 30 min from my in NY that I had no clue of.... So its time to expand my horizons

At this present time my needs are semi vague just seeing whats out there, if you have one for sale or are thinking about selling one let me know.

As I do more research this week my desires might become a little more specific. I don't mind purchasing something dirty and converting if the price is right. And I would like something capable of competing in the motard class at LRRS to.

I have a 2005 Suzuki RMZ450 and a 2006 Husqvarna TC450 for sale. Both are in their dirty trim. But could be easily converted to motard duty.

    Take your pick, $2200 each.

    Re: Supermoto

There are a bunch for sale at the moment.

I know of a mint KTM 250 with full Sumo treatment plus dirt wheels for approx $3500.
Joel Taylor is selling a LRRS ready CRF450 for $4000.
There is a 2000 KTM 520 that the owner is asking too much for, low ball him!

250 might be too small for LRRS
Im eyeballing that CRF at the moment
Eh idk how I feel about a KTM, my understanding is you have to weld / replace the crank correct?

Thanks for the PM offers to guys

    Re: Supermoto

Agreed, 250 would be small for LRRS, but a blast everywhere else.

On RFS KTMs (like that 2000) the crank is a weak spot to watch for. It really depends on how hard you hammer it. Fortunately with the 520 being longer stroke that'll keep the revs down a bit, work the torque curve to your advantage... but you'll still need to watch the oil for signs that the mains are starting to fail. They can be built to last now, but I wouldn't jump into an RFS with a plan of rebuilding it out of the gate unless you got it for CHEAAAAAAAP.

I don't know how the newer generation KTM motors fare. In general on any pressed together single the crank is going to be a weak point. People don't bother welding CRF cranks though because they're so cheap to just buy new when the time comes, etc.

    Re: Supermoto

It just made sense to have the crank worked on while the engine was open. 525smr crank was fine in stock trim before the rebuild.
