Welder - Stick (lincoln or the like)

Looking for a stick welder if anyone has an older Lincoln or similar. AC/DC 240V etc. You know, the old red box... Not looking for production grade, just something to do some odd jobs around the house so I don't have to keep starting the generator. Price depends on what you got and condition.

Toolbox full size bed??? If it is trade made !!!

Yes full size bed, but it sits down inside the bed where one would typically sit. It doesn't span the sides of the bed, sits kind of flush with the top. My parents bought it for their 3500 to sit in front of the fifth wheel and not interfere. They used it about three months and sold the rig. I use it to store my son's soccer equipment in the garage, not very good for that.
It is a Kobalt so I figured it came from Lowes. It is aluminum and I do have the keys for the locks, just have to find them.
The welder have a plug on it? any idea what the amperage draw is? If it is in decent shape I have no problem trading.

yes it does.. I'll snap a pic when I get home. I have it on it's own dedicated circuit. I am not electrical minded, I have a buddy do all my stuff. I'll see what I have it plugged into.

Amperage size really doesn't matter. I have some open space in the panel, I can drop a new feed for it.
I'll try to find those keys.

I should ask for some tips on welding. I have some stick welder from a while back, thought I was going to give it a go with some exhaust welding and misc things.. but I totally suck and couldn't get it working well (like I remembered in high school). I still have to go claim it, it's sitting in my uncle's garage.

I kept on getting the stick "stuck" and had a hard time getting a bead started no matter how much juice I gave it. I found that when the stick was much shorter I had much better luck probably because of the leverage...

Could be wrong stick to what you are welding, old stick, wrong voltage (ac/dc). I don't have much clue what I'm doing either, but I like to weld up brackets or whatever. I just want something I can turn on and not have to screw with starting the generator.

I've played with the wire fed ones.. those ones are pull the trigger and go. Interesting idea about the wrong stick.. maybe I'll give it another whirl with a different set of materials..

MIGs work really nice, and they are quick and convenient with flux core. I've always just been a stick burner. Maybe one day I'll pick up a MIG.
Now have to see if Sheppo wants to part with his...
