    Wicked fun street bike

Got a bad case of wannanewbikeitis. Over my 15 year riding career I’ve pretty much entirely owned vanilla practical motorcycles. If you asked me, “what’s the most fun motorcycle you’ve owned?” I don’t know if I’d have an answer, and I might like to change that. I kinda have the urge to buy something for those “just for fun” rides.

No luggage/commuting/2up/touring requirements, only maximum smiles per mile. Looking for a mistress, not a wife. I’ve already got one of those, and a toddler, so I want something that I will WANT to ride if I happen to get 1-4 hours of free time.

Realistically won’t see more than 2-3k miles per year. No time for a project. Doesn’t need to be immaculate condition, in fact if it wasn’t, I’d be more inclined to want to flog it at a track day. Can’t do sportbike ergonomics anymore. I’m in CT, and let’s say a budget of $3-6k (have a mostly stock Z125 for trade bait as well).

Some bikes for which I have been snooping the classifieds of late, in no particular order, and certainly not limited to:
    KTM Super Duke
    Ducati Hypermotard
    Buell XB Lightning
    MV Augusta Brutale
    KTM Duke 690
    Ducati Monster
maybe even a SV650 with suspension upgrades if the price was right

For reference, current vanilla bike garage has a DR650 that does dualsport/ADV duties, and a 919 with full Givi’s that does commuting/ light touring/ occasional 2-up, so something totally different than those.

    Busa.

But seriously, my anniversary edition XSR900 is my wicked fun street bike...The motor and the way it looks just does it for me. Hypermotard is always high on my list. I'd also look into Tuono, speed/street Triple, Z900/1000, GSX-S750/1000, KTM 950 supermoto, MT/FZ 07/09, Ducati Scrambler, Aprilia Dorsoduro. There's a lot of fun bikes out there.

Just get something thats got ridiculous hp and low weight. Cross the sv off your list for the love of Christmas eve dinner. Live a little.

Monster 1200, brutale, hypermotard, super Duke, busa, speed triple

The KTMs on your list seem the right choice.
According to my younger self there were only two types of fun street bikes. Either a hooligan bike like a super moto or a fast one that can see triple digits with barely any shifting.
A SV is not a fun street bike (it’s a great bike and I love it dearly).
Some of the options in your list I can’t express an opinion on because I know nothing about them (MV).
Id get either one of the big KTMs kr maybe the duc hypermotard. That thing looks it can get some good stuff on your driving record really fast.

    Re: Wicked fun street bike

While I appreciate the input about bike options (I’ve also read through the “street bike to rekindle the flame” thread a few times), the purpose of this thread was to see if any of you knuckleheads had a wicked fun bike you wanted to unload or had any leads.

The reason the SV was on the list is because maybe it will encourage the trackday bug to start biting again. A decent 3k SV leaves some cash in the budget for a handful of track days, while still being lighter and easier to flick around on a twisty street ride compared to my 919 (the suspension on the 919 is terrible, but I’m not going to throw any money at it)

Well, you did say you agonized over my Hyper, to buy, or not to buy ...

Be that as it may, from your list, if it wuz me, I'd go for the Duke 690.

Not sure if this was a subtle sales pitch or not, but something like that bike would be sweet for the giggle factor as a toy....

    2014 MV Agusta Rivale 800

    https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...5397580664181/

    Ducati Hyperstrada 2016

Ben (w/ MV) & Harrison (w/ the st765) are my garage mates and could put in a good word. Both bikes are taking up space and never get ridden. Rode the MV and gawd damn is that a nice bike and I can only imagine it to be the same for the 765.

    Re: Wicked fun street bike

I have had a lot of bikes in my life. The two that always stand as being the ones that bring the most smiles to my face are my rd350 and my old honda hornet 919. My nsr is starting to edge out my rd350 though as its modern suspension helps tremendously with its comfort level.

I would have 790/890 Duke on your list as well. I think if touring/distance isn't a requirement this is about the best bike you can by right now.

    I think the OP already has a 919 :-)
What specifically did you like about the Hornet? Seems like a great all around sporty standard. I agree about the Dukes but the budget is $3-6k from what I ready and those are fetching more now. Any of the small street fighters should be fun: duke/street triple/hypermotard

I noticed no mentioned of an FZ09/XSR. Not a fan of the CP3? They can be found rather cheap, a quick flash for the throttle issue and some suspension goodies will have them a weapon on the streets.

The Kenny Robert’s scheme is drop dead sexy, silly fast and 36k mi valve jobs is easy on the wallet in comparison to the Italian counterparts.

I know, I just mentioned it as i really loved that bike for the OP's comparison.

The 919 just did everything for me. It was an absolute blast to ride. Nothing ever broke on it and it was easy to ride. Im always half heartedly looking for another but with 6 bikes in the yard room is an issue.

Ahh, I missed the budget park.

Also, if that's the real budget then some of the bikes on that list

For sure, $6K for a lot of bike. I'm loaded up now on "big" (for me) bikes, so I'm spared ... I think ... .
