    Woods bike

Looking for Dirtbike for the woods I am getting tired of trying to make my YZ do both so I am setting it up for track. Maybe an older 2 stroke 125 or 250 or a KDX?

Let me know what you have Not looking for a trailer Queen or a cockRoach.

How much you want to give me for my CR250. 1997, has been rock solid. Might need a clutch soon. Also Peter recently changed my fork fluid, seals and has done all the swingarm bearings last year.

That KDX is the GO! Sweet woods bike. Possibly the best ever? With some careful jetting (check out canadian dave's justkdx) the thing will chug all day and rip when needed.

    Re: Woods bike

I regret selling mine... I had the 200 of the same year. The one you just bought looks minty. I'd still pull the swingarm and lube everything. That's where the most wear had occurred on the one I had. You'll fricking love it in the woods. So soft it just eats up rocks for dinner. You can sit and go fast on that thing. A trials rear tire might make it into a mountain goat.

    Re: Woods bike

Agreed! I *love* my '04 KDX200, and I have had Husky's, KTM's, CR's, IT's, pretty much everything. This is actually my 2nd go around with H series KDX's. Do not let the conventional forks fool you, with stiffer springs they perform very good in the woods!
Throw a V-Force or RAD valve in there and RIP!
Then you could dual sport it like I did with mine and have the best dual sport woods machine out there!

    Re: Woods bike

For the money, they are hard to beat. The only downside is that you can't really ride them motocross style because that big tank keeps you back in the seat and it has a high center of gravity. For the recreational woods rider, enduro rider, or even b,c level harescrambler they are just an easy bike to ride with no fuss. Reliable as a sherman tank too.

Gregp, if you ever get the inkling to sell that lil girl, drop me a line. I know about 12 people that would snatch that thing in a ny minute.

    Re: Woods bike

Chipper, I understand. I get hit up about it every time I take it into town. You know, it really is not that hard to do, though. All it takes is some money, and some effort.
I regretted selling my '96 so much that when I picked this one up, I swore to myself that I would not sell it for a long time. This one was quite a bargain, my brother found it in VA, with a good title, and a hacked up BD kit already installed on it for $1200. I couldn't pass it up. Of course it has the stock exhaust and reed cage on it, unlike my '96, which had *everything*. Stock, it is quite nice, though, especially for true DS use. No sense pissing off the neighbors!
At my age (49), the stock KDX outperforms me. I did put in some stiffer XR400 fork springs, though, and I removed the small ball/spring power valve detent for a much more lively motor. (located on the underside of the quarter sized, slotted, round cover on the left side of the motor, in case anybody wants to try this mod out, - it is easily reinstalled if you do not like it).
