WTB: 5,000 BTU portable A/C unit (not window unit)

Planning on keeping an A/C unit in my new enclosed trailer.

The roof-mount units are super-expensive (~$600 new) and I'm not ready yet to cut a hole in the side of the trailer for a window mount unit (although I've seen that done).

Thought I'd try out a portable A/C unit. Looking for one of the ones that goes on the floor so I can just route the hot air exhaust out of one of the vents in the trailer.

I have a Honda 2,000 watt generator and I'll be running a set of warmers so I want to go with the smallest A/C possible. I heard the rule of thumb is that a 5,000 BTU A/C will consume about 500 watts. I'd put that around 1,500 watts of draw plus ~500 watts to spare for peak draw. I know that's probably not a huge margin, but I'm hoping it will suffice.

Let me know if you have anything that will work.

That seems to be a pretty good deal. Any idea if a 8,000 BTU is going to be too much for my generator if I'm running it with tire warmers too?

Just be sure to check the specs on the particular unit you're considering. Typically the window shakers use less wattage for a given BTU rating than the R2 style portables.

Random thought on the portable AC units. I had to look at these for cooling in my office and I wound up going with one that evaporates the condensate into the exhaust air. Doesn't sound like a big deal but if it is a relatively humid time of year and you have to constantly empty the condensate collector to keep your AC running it can get old.

Anybody know what a safe combined wattage would be between the warmers and the a/c? I heard, for instance, a 500 watt a/c might peak at higher than 500 watts...
